I flew out to Stansted from Ercan, via Istanbul, 3 weeks ago, shortly after the ban was introduced. No questions were asked about laptops when I checked in. At the luggage scanner, just after passport control, the man in front of me put his full size laptop through the X-Ray machine - no questions asked (he may have been travelling to Turkey). Finally, at the boarding gate I was asked if I was carrying a laptop and I said no (it was in my hold luggage), but I did not see any checks being carried out. Seems to me, like a pointless ban.

Someone mentions on the above thread that Laptops are taken off passengers at the gate in Istanbul if transiting on to UK, to be picked up at baggage reclaim in the UK, The ban is only for flights entering the UK from certain countries including Turkey
