Isnt this inevitable ? Dont envisage the settlement talks been successful more like coming to an end . Financially turkey is in the driving seat amd the trnc will have to play turkeys tune . Now with president erdogan emboldened by his referendum win and consolidation of power if this is his desire then it will become reality .
I dont know if it is a bad thing or a good thing . Anything that improves the standard of living for the locals will be a good thing . Im not sure turkey is doing any better than trnc minimum wages are lower unemployment at 13 % 24 % youth unemployment 12 % inflation .
Also if they annexed would thevgreeks not close th border ? That would be very bad for tourism ?

The idiot that made this statement is the same idiot who thinks the rest of the world is trying to kill the pres using telekinesis. Also the same idiot who was filmed kicking a man in Soma after 300 miners had lost their lives in a pit disaster. Not one who's word is to be relied on........more like the court jester.

Erdogan may be a lot of things, but stupid is not one of them!
He won't want risk the sort of sanctions that Russia faced after annexing Crimea.

All three - how better to monitor and maintain tight control of the populace? Anything and everything that is not specifically detailed as "permitted" is verboten, and as such, is an act against the state.....

It is almost impossible to stop a politician making an ass of themselves... the surefire way to stop it happening is to vote for someone else.

I thought the Turkish Constitution forbade the annexing of territory to the country?

And once they were in power "someone else" would promptly see and take up a challenge to make an even greater ass of him (or her) self ;
Actually I think Mr. Erdogan was rather clever in the way he did things to gain the support of the greatest proportion of the electorate (which by definition of democracy) is the lowest common denominator. Does anyone else see a similarity between his tactics and those of Donald Trump?
