Any personal recommendations appreciated for car hire. We are looking for 2 decent Fiesta/Focus sized cars at decent prices. Not looking for dented rust buckets as we have a baby with us. Baby seat required.

Thanks in advance

Definitely Oscar Car Hire for me. We have used them 3 times now and they beat all other ones we used before. Their prices are competitive and they have never let us down. Ask to speak with Navid 03928152272 and mention me

Beware charge £25.00 for collection of a car at Ercan, but only tell you when you arrive.

That is an outrageous and unfounded accusation, they own a petrol station so they would have no need to do that !

The car comes back from rental with 1/2 tank of fuel (OK). They stick £10 worth of fuel in (OK) when you pick it up, the saying goes there is £25.00 worth of fuel in the car Sir!! (OK).

All hire companies in any country do it.... It's a Perk of the trade.

I hire from Aone & the tank is near enough on empty, sometimes I suspect fumes only but there is a petrol station near & their transfers are £25 when hiring a car....

For years Bird did not charge for petrol, they would ask you to leave it with the same amount of petrol that was in it when you picked it up, a few unscrupulous people spoiled it by leaving the cars empty.
You pay for and get £25 petrol, you can take it back empty no problem, you are accusing a very good company of corrupt practices which are simply not true
Personally I am happy to pay £25 and have half a tank of fuel rather than an empty tank

If you hire a car keep your documentation because a lot of companys will race your cars back them same day and you could end up with a speeding fine

niceone I agree with you and lodger is talking rubbish. Bird is a really good company to deal with. I am more than happy to have £25 of petrol in the car, especially when landing late at night, last thing you want to do is stop to put fuel in.

We always use Açmenya when needing a rental car, we have used them quite a few times now. we have just rented one from them last week as we had more family out than usual. We had a Ford Focus most of the week but a 7 seater for last weekend to go to Karpas/ Famagusta. Cars are very reasonably priced.

I use A One, yes their cars generally don't have much fuel in but there is a petrol station just down the road.

Transfers are cheap £50 for both ways (Larnaca).

They are not perfect they once gave me a car with no wing mirrors, when I complained they quickly got me another car.

I used to use Baspinar but they charged me for a flat tyre (not my fault but I did not point it out up front, but then again I was given the car in the middle of the night by the taxi driver not the Baspinar workers), the BIG Russian guy they sent with me ensured that I paid up for a new tyre. I also once found a condom packet in the back of one of their cars thankfully my young daughter did not see it (yuk). I have not been back to them since so I don't know if things have improved or not.
