We have been reading about this new road which runs under Ercan runway and takes to directly to Akincilar. My questions are - is the road clearly marked from Ercan and can you use the old road to leave if you want to head to Famagusta afterwards, for instance.

We went today so I can answer my own silly question (roads are so close together it doesn't matter). Must say it is now a pleasure to go there. We spent three hours there. We met Huseyin at the coffee shop who bought us coffee, after discussing TC politics and cyprob at length Huseyin took us to Raziye Kocaismael's house but she was in England. We did see Necet, her husband, who we first met 5 years ago, then went to Huseyin's house for guided tour of garden and Turkish delight for refreshments, followed by a visit to his hilltop farm. Finished by visiting two captured tanks from 1974 conflict on top of another hill. Our time wasn't even spoiled by Sally waltzing off with the coffee shop owner's phone which she picked up by mistake. Happy days!

So is it clearly marked, where is the turning? I was looking as we drove to Ercan but it was dark and did not see it
Thanks

Turn left at Ercan airport roundabout then take next right turn. We missed it as it comes up very quickly and is only marked with a small sign on the right hand side of the road. If you miss it you can take the old right turn which is marked with a much clearer sign and is a bit further on, then turn left on to the new roadworks just before the army camp. You might have to go around the next roundabout the wrong way as we did to get back on track. Good luck and have fun!
