I felt it was my duty to inform every one , after all the bad publicity about Pegasus that i have got some praise for them.
I booked a flight & paid as one does with a credit card, upon checking my account i realised they had taken for the same flight twice.

This was on the 26 Sept 2012, i contacted them on the 29 Sept 2012 informed them of my plight & low & behold the monies were credited back to my credit card acc on the 03 Oct 2012.

Well done Pegasus.

Lucky you. We are back a week early from our long-planned 3-week holiday in England and Scotland because Pegasus cancelled our flight from Manchester out of the blue. They offered a refund - utterly useless as trying to book flights at similar prices at short notice would have been impossible; a flight from Stansted - again impossible as we were staying north of Manchester and our travel budget didn't stretch to travel and a hotel in Stansted; or a flight a week earlier which is what we had to take. We had spent ages planning this trip as we haven't been in the UK since 2004. We missed seeing our grand-daughter and great-granddaughter; catching up with old friends; and taking tourist trips on the Settle-Carlisle railway, to an art exhibition in Liverpool, and to Haworth where the Bronte sisters lived. The breakfast on our outbound trip was inedible and some of the food unidentifiable. We had paid for particular seats at the front but were seated at the back. Added to that we had surly flight attendants who looked as if they'd be quite happy chucking us out of the baggage hold. We were told by text that we could check in early only to find that this wasn't available in Manchester. Never again will we fly with Pegasus!

Agree MoBry, nor will I! They are a complete shower. Standing by for mountains of praise from people who have had no trouble. Their problem is the typical Turkish attitude to trouble that they have caused. Shrug, double-shrug.
However, unacceptable problems at Sabiah Gökcen airport were far worse. Wonder if the idiots have sorted that out yet?

No RCT, my Wife paid by CC. We simply can't be bothered to continue chasing the airline. I say "airline" for lack of a suitable alternative.

Could be worse, it might have been the dreadful Onur Air.

I got badly ripped off by this outfit. Whilst in UK, due to serious family illness I needed to change my return flight to a later date. Their website quoted the cost of this as being something reasonable like £20 (can't remember exactly and can't be bothered to check!) After many calls to their UK callcentre number, and being wished "good evening" by an ansaphone regardless of the hour and being invited to call back during opening hours, without ever mentioning when these might be, I gave up and rang their Istanbul number. They then proceeded to charge me over £200 extra for my flight home, which was only £36 less than re-booking a completely new flight. So I ended up paying nearly £400 for a one-way ticket.

I have since, due to the same family problems, had to change the dates of return flights to UK. A local friend in the travel business did this for me, and it cost under £30.

Trouble is, this airline now has no direct competition, so the staff can afford to rip you off, be surly etc. As for cancelling the flight from Manchester, I am so sorry to hear that your trip was ruined. I thought this only happened in third world countries with dodgy internal airlines.

You say, ''no competition'', what about Turkish airlines?. I know of people who have travelled with them, and have been more than satisfied.
Also, are Atlas Jet still operating?
Sorry, but I'm on of those who have been satisfied with Pegasus, as are my family. But, I think I get what I pay for.
It's a shame you take the matter up seriously with Pegasus though.

Atlas Jet and Turkish offer good competition now.

One brilliant move by Pegasus, they are clamping down hard on excess baggage. 8kg is more than enough cabin baggage but many still abuse this meaning that luggage racks are so full that I have seen people having to send there cabin bags to hold.

Just returned from Stansted and supervisor at check in was telling everybody 8kg and if they try to get more onto flight it would be removed. Some people leave excess with friends and then retrieve before going through security. We saw one man do this but supervisor had identified him and collared him at boarding gate with 13kg. He was told to remove 5kg, pay £50 or not get on flight. Do not know end result as we boarded. There was no way he was getting on without complying

Another couple tried to check 2 suitcases and had at least 6 bags to take on board. Because of arguments they held up one desk for over 20 minutes but the supervisor was adament. She allowed the extra "cabin baggage" to go in the hold but they had to pay excess.

Pegasus have been generous in the past with "excess" but because of abuse by too many the rest have to suffer. You used to get an extra kg or so but not any more. Over 20kg hold and it is excess charge.

Well done Pegasus following the likes of Ryanair and easyJet I hope the rest will follow suit.

We have used Turkish Airlines Heathrow - Istanbul - Ercan. Very competitive especially if you book early plus luggage, food(it wastes 30 mins and is not bad), drinks, IFE and seat choice included in total cost. Always check Pegasus prices but to be honest it has never worked out to be a lot less and often more.

Atlas jet are operating but have always been a bit more cost wise. Also maybe try Easyjet to Istanbul and then connect from there? Not done it but could be a good alternative.

If via Larnaca can recommend Aegean Air..... Everything in the cost and they were very good on price when booked early.

Have returned to using Pegasus recently having endured the Lanarca route with Monarch a few times because of cost, however I have found booking on line with Pgs inc extra legroom seats, 20k each hold baggage and printing my own boardig passes out of Stanstead very competitive of late and (cross fingers no probs so far).

PoshinDevon we have looked at Turkish Airlines both out of Stanstead and Manchester but deterred as you have to change planes and always seems to be a lengthy wait in between.

Very rarely is Turkish competitive on price, and at various times of year there seems to be a 3 hour transfer time in Istanbul. Also, when the transfer time is about 1 hour, if the flight from here to IST is slightly late, your luggage gets left behind because of the change of planes.

Atlasjet do not have very "socialable hours" flight times.

As to connecting with a different airline in IST, we do this frequently, and quite often our luggage does not make it back to Ercan from IST, even with a decent transit time, if we use Onur or Atlas to get back here. Whether this is the fault of the transit handling service or the onward airline, I do not know. I have been told that it is the responsibility of the onward airline to collect luggage and get it on to their flight. We have never had problems from IST transferring to the big national airlines, apart from the above when the transit time is tight and there is a delay. Ercan always say they will deliver the luggage the next day, but then ring with an excuse for you to go to collect it yourself, such as customs wish to look in it.

Best to travel on Pegasus, one plane and luggage stays on board, but how I wish there was an alternative. CTA was, despite all it's quirks, a cheap and fairly reliable way to visit the old country.

Have not seen much on the subject recently but has all possibility of a CTA replacement/ new trnc airline now completely died? I agree pegasus need some direct competition.

Seems a shame following the announcement of the new super hub Ercan!

I'd rather travel to Larnaca and brave flights from there than fly with Pegasus again. And yes, we will be taking it up with them, just cancelling a flight isn't acceptable. However, next time we visit the UK, we'll fly Turkish Airlines to Istanbul, spend a day or so there, and then travel onwards with EasyJet. I'm absolutely ropeable with Pegasus as we had to cut short our stay with family in Scotland, where our five month old great-grandson was terminally ill with an inoperable heart condition and died three days after we left. We would not have been there when he did die but we missed out on an extra day which meant we also missed catching up with our great-granddaughter. As far as we're concerned, from now on a pox on Pegasus.

I have logged on to the Pegasus airlines website this morning - Manchester has been removed from the drop down screen for available airports so you can't select Manchester as a airport as a departure or destination. Have Pegasus stopped doing flights to and from Manchester for 2013?

For the past couple of years I have traveled to Manchester during the peak holiday season with Turkish airlines. Found them to be the best deal overall, taking into consideration a shorter airport journey and inclusive meals and baggage. You need to book early and book a return promotional ticket to get the best deal. I have noticed that if you book a one-way ticket it is sometimes nearly as expensive as a return ticket.

I have used Pegasus airlines a lot and never had a problem but limited and non availability (winter) and very high prices to Manchester in the peak season have forced me to shop around.

Pegasus don't fly to Ercan from Manchester from about 16th October until I think it is March next year.

We have used Pegasus 3 times this year and pre booked extra leg room seats. On the return leg from Ercan we have not been given our allocated seats on all three trips. This also happened on the outward journey 3 weeks ago and once last year.

The Pegasus booking system is a shambles and therefore we will definitely not be using them again.

Have to disagree re cost of Turkish Airlines - they are competitive.

It is all of course a matter of personal choice with many things outside of cost to be considered also...airport choice, flight times, luggage allowance, meals, service etc

We found that unlike Pegasus, Turkish Airlines as a scheduled carrier have their flight schedule out almost a year in advance and if you can book early the cost is competitive. They also have a number of flights out each day to Istanbul with onward connections to Ercan. Our latest travel had us leave London early morning with a 50 min transfer time at Istanbul arriving Ercan at 3:15pm. On the way home we had an afternoon flight out to Istanbul, 1hr 15min transfer time and in London at 9:10pm. So there was no long wait in Istanbul.

We booked for June 2013 in August this year at a cost of 192 rtn each which we think is competitive considering it includes everything and a 22kg per person luggage allowance. Pegasus website was checked but could not beat it. If we did not have to take luggage we may have been able to cut the costs but not convinced by much.

Appreciate not everyone can plan so far ahead and we certainly will continue to shop around and look again at Pegasus but unfortunately each time the extras just keep adding up....plus the customer feedback on this forum is not the best! At the end of the day if you are happy with the cost and what you are getting then thats really all that matters!

Personally never had a problem with Pegasus. Never been delayed either. We originally booked Turkish Airlines for September last year but after 3 weeks we were emailed to say that the flight times had changed and there would have been a 5 hour delay in Istanbul on the way out and 9 hours on the return. We had to cancel because we had a 2 year old and a 9 month old child with us. We got our money back and booked again with Pegasus.

Have now booked with Pegasus for June and September next year for £159 per person. Don't think you can beat them personally.

Only critisism I have is that I Would love more legroom.

Flew out 28th Sept from Stansted, we booked 12 months in advance also booked the seats in emergency exits at a cost, 2nd in queue and when the guy checked us in it would not give us our seats, waited and talked to rep she said it was because they had changed planes(rubbish) they got us in the emergency isle seats and when we got to istanbul the couple in our seats told us they asked for them and were given them straight away by the check in staff, moral of story don't pay extra for anything they sell, roll on when we get more choice.

We never book on line with Pegasus, book at travel agent who either match or get fairly close to price. Their experience is the same as above, do not pay to book seats as often you do not get what you pay for.

Also, by booking with agent if anything goes wrong they will do all the work to help sort the problems. If you book on line, I think there are enough instances qouted about Pegasus that sorting problems is never easy.

That said, I would never hesitate to recomend Pegasus. I always put other half on their aircraft when she goes shopping in England!!!!!

love them or hate them! if you do want to book with pegasus..with an agent..then i am your girl!
libby@cyprusxp.com 0392 8151452

we are the pegasus representatives in cyprus - although if you book online - and you have problems - you have to contact the call centre in istanbul.

saying that - i know how frustrating that can be - and if i am able to help..i will!

no point coming and shouting at me though as i say - we are agents!

our prices for next year are currently a little more expensive than the internet...we are waiting for our special IT seats...when we get these...I should beable get people great deals!
If you are looking at booking now..please contact me aswell...as i may beable to beat the internet prices!

when you book with us - you pay us - cyprus xp - we then pay pegasus - you won't get any nightmares of 2 payments - or the screen freezing...

if you have booked your flights and you need to change them - we can do this for you...each flight is different in cost...
we can add food and extra room seats...

I hear bad things all the time and can emphasise with everyone..i hate selling something...and then the providers let you down....really enjoying....

We can also get very very good prices with Turkish Airlines...between here and Istanbul...
We also sell Atlasjet and every other airline going!!!

Come and see me....Libby..on the Kyrenia roundabout....near the Colony hotel...you can't miss the office it has a big sign..
WE SPEAK ENGLISH...on the window.

Sorry, Libby, we appreciate it's not your fault but booking through an agent didn't do us any good, our flight was cancelled regardless. I'd warn anyone to think carefully about travelling with Pegasus - our experience has been that they treated us with disdain when they cancelled our flight and they are utterly shambolic to deal with. Never again.

Flights can be cancelled by any airline without notice, it is not unique to Pegasus.

I was taught many years ago that when travelling always check with the airline to ensure flight is operating, usually 48 hours before. This once saved us a mega problem in outback Australia. Also ensure that your travel insurance offers full cover for such eventualities as cancellation and long delays.

We were fogbound in Ercan last Sunday for over 3 hours but Pegasus provided a drink for all passengers.

I am a regular traveller from Heathrow and have used BA, Cyprus Airways and Agean. In the past CTA and was caught by the collapse!!!!
All my flights since have been from Larnaca and have been a pleasant and cost effective experience.
I especially like BA if you can book well in advance. Will never do the Ercan experience again unless it gets open skies there with the rest of the world and some decent airlines.
Connect times end to end and overall costs lower via Larnaca than via Ercan, including a shared taxi. Painless

Recently booked on line seats 1a/1b to Stansted when checking in at Ercan were given 4a/4b so showed them we had paid for extra legroom seats so they changed our boarding passes to 1a/1b and told us they would contact Istanbul to let them know there had been a mix up. At Istanbul all passengers came on the last being an elderly couple who were looking for seats 1a/1b the stewardesses told us we were in the wrong seats and that we would have to move when we said no she asked for our boarding passes which of course did originally say 4a/4b so she again insisted we move fortunately I had the printout of our booking which quite clearly showed our prebooked seats being 1a/1b the stewardess still insisted we move to which we said no they were all frantic about us refusing to move anyway to cut a very long story short the wife was found a seat further down the plane and the gentleman sat on seat 1c we asked him if he had booked on line to which he replied no his secretary always did it for him and he always had the 3 seats in the row as he is THE OWNER OF THE AIRLINE!!!!! after recovering from the shock we then understood why there had been such a panic about us refusing to move he said he would find out how the mix up had happened and no doubt the guy who changed our boarding passes no longer has a job he was very amenable and quite happy to talk on the flight when we landed the stewardesses were running around gettings his bags and coat and he left the plane first to be met by a welcoming party of about 10 people thus confirming that he was indeed MR PEGASUS

I too am one of many that gave up after about one year of chasing for a refund on flights booked on line. Every time I managed to get through on the Turkish helpline number, I was told a refund would be forthcoming, only to never see it credit my bank account. Eventually I realised if I did not stop calling them, hanging on a phone line waiting to tell my story again, I would spend the refund amount on phone bills!!! Unfortunately we do not have the option of speaking with our 'feet' and going else where, so looks like they have the upper hand.
