IS THERE AN ACTIVE PASSENGER FERRY TO & FROM CYPRUS TO EGYPT

Does anyone know if there is a active passenger ferry running between Cyprus to Egypt?. This could be a cheaper option for me to come over to TRNC on my 'recce' trip.

After a very kind KibKomer suggested trying this form of travel to get me over to TRNC via South Cyprus I have been Googling without success. All I seem to find is obsolete sites or sites stating services are suspended.

I will be eternally grateful if anyone can advise if there is a service or as I suspect all crossings have now stopped.

To the best of my knowledge - NO!

There was a service to Syria, but I've no idea of its current staus.

No doubt someone will be along in a minute to put us right

Cheers KeithCaley & IanCrumpy. Even if a ferry was via Syria think I would give that a wide berth (no pun intended ). Why do all the easy options go down the pan.

Will still need find a quote for possessions removal from here to there though. Once I get a price I can then decide whether it's more cost effective to sell the lot here & re-buy over in TRNC or do the removal option. Anyone know of any reliable removal firms? Wonder how they do it (shipping crates or airfreight).

Sorry if I misled. The only ferry would be to Limassol, and then you need to cross over, getting taxi or some such to the border. Long time since i lived in the south so not sure, but google it!

If there were a ferry from Port Said to Limassol, then this web site would give it, but as you can see (if you click on the link) at present there isn't such a service

Guess I am out of date and it looks as if every ferry is suspended, including the louis Line trips. for what reason i wonder? Or will they be resumed. I guess it might be worth while writing to lone of the companies and asking why???? But it does say that there is a cargo ship from Egypt to Cyprus although to the sout is not much good for here if one wants to bring possessions.

No problems Marion, it was worth a try. Will still still seek to find a company who may offer container transportation. Did e-mail cyprus@emelshipping.com (who I found on KibKom I believe), but after sending a general request 3 separate times asking if they do Egypt to Cyprus haulage I have heard nothing from them!!!

Some companies do a door to door service, so they may ship across from Pt Said or Alexandria and off-load at Limassol and truck it North. But whoops!! then we will have to deal with the RoC border police, who I can imagine will have a field day rummaging and trashing through my possessions as a revenge tactic because I want to enter & live in TRNC, Hmm that's food for thought .

Appears "Crumpy' has got the latest info on this ferry malarkey. It would appear that the canx. of the Egypt-Limassol ferry last year coincided with the Egyptian Arab Spring uprising. I would presume this service was halted as a security issue. Now where I am here all sensible expats are making plans to get out of 'dodge city' and likewise probably no-one wants to visit dodge!!

Right I'm going to try again to get some sleep - it's 4.30am here & this insomnia is becoming a serious problem. Stress I believe is the root of all my ailments and a sure sign I need to start a tranquil life in TRNC ASAP Nightie night folks, & again thanks X

It's Jo, James Valentine Removals. Can't help with the passenger ferry, but yes, we do ship from Egypt to North Cyprus and moved a Lady recently from there to Karsiyaka. Full container loads not a problem. Part loads are more difficult, but can be done.
