Anyone done this? Just been looking on the Web and it says you have to fly from Ercan to Dalaman airport via Istanbul or Ankara. and it takes four and a quarter hours. Can this be correct. Am I reading it right!!!

Yes, that is correct.
In the last couple of years direct flights from Ercan to Dalaman have ceased.
We decided to fly from Ercan to Antalya, pick up a car and drive west to Kalkan, via Fethiye - about 3-4 hours depending the route chosen - coastal or inland.

Hi to confirm Paul's post we have done both routes driving, the coastal one is tortuous but pretty, the mountain excellent fast roads but boring. The flights seem to take forever with the stopover in Antalya we had a delay in coming back just for a few days, lovely though Fethiye is it does not seem worth it.
Also Dalaman has an international & domestic terminal we had to go to a different one to get our luggage & there were no taxis there we had booked a hotel transfer but they missed us.

Thank you, thank you. That's one decision I don't have to make. No trip to Fethia then. Sadly not up to much driving and I suspect pretty though it appears, just for a 4 night stay its a definite No, No.

I have just been doing this exact flight search wanting to go for 4 days in July. We have done the via Istanbul option in the past and it was a nightmare to be honest. We have also flown to Antalya and got the bus to Fethiye which, whilst pretty torturous as the mountain road was being upgraded at the time, it is quite interesting. Thinking about hiring a car this time. Decisions decisions!

For the adventurous you can fly to Rhodes from Larnaca and get the boat across from Rhodes town. Flight to Rhodes is just over an hour and boat to Fethiye is 1.5 hours. Two centre holiday?

Wow that is a great idea do you know how long the ferry takes from Rhodes? Having seen the boats when we there I do not think I would want too long a journey on one!

It takes 90 minutes. Here's link to one booking site but you can Google the route and see if there is anything else on offer and cheaper. http://www.directferries.co.uk/fethiye_ ... oCUmbw_wcB

We flew to Rhodes last September with Aegean, flights were on offer, think it was around £100 return for 2 of us. There is a local bus from the airport into town. There are lots of ferries from Rhodes to visit the various Greek islands and Turkish mainland. The ferry ports are easily accessible from the town, you just need to make sure you go to the right one. We visited Symi which is beautiful and where Rick Stein has a place and films some of his cooking segments from and Nisyros which has a fabulous Italian restaurant right by the sea. Of course, Rhodes town itself has a beautiful walled city and harbour so is worth a day or two of sightseeing. On checking ferry prices to Fethiye look quite expensive but maybe you can shop around.

Hello again did you manage to get a direct flight to Rhodes I can only see via Athens which makes it a lot of travelling for a short break?

Yes we went direct but they don't seem to do that route anymore. However, googling Larnaca to Rhodes flights shows 2 carriers doing direct flights on that route:

The new Cyprus Airways https://www.cyprusairways.com on Mondays and Fridays and
TUS airways http://tusairways.com on Saturdays commencing 24/6/17.

Hi. I used to live in fethiye and go back every few months. I have booked flights to antalya 9 to 14 July £82 return. The road is very good now and is only 3 and a bit hours. If you fancy you can join me on the trip.

I've just booked flights with Turkish Airlines (operated by Anadolu Jet) to Dalaman (via Ankara) in July. Total time 3 hrs 30 mins which for me is preferable to spending 4 hours on the bus. Cost per person 550TL return.

Have booked for Antalya instead. Its a doddle, hotels fantastic and less fuss. My days of coping with fuss and hassle have long gone!!!
