Problem crossing Green Line on foot when you've hired a car

Just a heads up.

I was stopped from crossing North to South on foot at Ledra Street on Friday.

I was told that it was because I had hired a car in the south and crossed to the north (which I had done a week before) and could only cross back to the south if I was with the car!

So I had to remain in the north whilst my friend grabbed a bit of shopping in the south shops.

I had quite a lengthy, but polite, conversation with the officer who told me it was a new rule and he couldn't make an exception.

I think this could catch a few people out especially if there are several named drivers and each are doing their own thing around the island.

I Imagine it's because they wonder what you've done with the car ; sold it/crashed it etc
