Could anyone give me directions where you can register UK phone. Don't know Lefkosa to well.

Have a look here; a bit long-winded but this is (I believe) the latest information - I was fortunate in that when registration of mobiles was first started, it could be done online for no charge.....

Thank you for that. I come over twice a year and can't get my UK phone to work so I gather I have to have it registered.

As described to me by lady in Turkcell. Go into Lefkosia until you get to the LARGE traffic lights and cross roads. Turn right, go past Golden Tulip Hotel. come to traffic lights, go straight across, come to a small roundabout, turn left and look for Domino Pizza on RHS. This was given to me prior to there being an office in Girne. The lady in the office checks on the price/duty you have to pay on her computer in as sort of Glasses Guide thingy. I haven't bothered to register my newest phone (too idle) but I'm informed that even if I bought it in a sale and have the receipt to prove it I will still have to go by the price lists they have in their office!!!!

From your message 4 is there an office that you van go to in Girne to register your phone?

If you look on the jofra link, it would appear there is now. II can't confirm from personal knowledge though, However it could be that you have to go to Lefkosia for one part of the registration and Girne for the other because registering and paying duty on the phone is two separate actions. Nothing is straight forward is it? As I said, I'm too idle to bother.

I wonder what I would get charged, as my phone (still does what I want perfectly!) is a 17-year old Nokia 3310!

Glad to say Phone is now registered and I am waiting till Monday to go to Customs office (at the new Harbour) as it was shut this afternoon. it was realy easy with the link that jofra put up. Didn't get lost and staff were very helpful. In and out in 10 minutes.

Are you prepared to say how much tax you had to pay and what phone you have? Don't worry if you are not.

I pay the tax on Monday when I take it to the customs office. I will let you know when I have been.

Been to customs office quick and easy. My phone is a samsung J7 and is on a uk contract. cost 60 tl also 14tl at Lefkosa and 6 tl at Turkcell so was 80tl altogether.
