Do you have to apply for approval to erect a 5 metre high curtain screen supported by steel posts around a pool terrace area.?

If it's a supporting wall for your pool and patio that already have a kocan and are in your tapu, you don't need a new permission as it may be considered a part of the existing construction (you are not extending anything, you are reinforcing). But if your pool is not on your property plan, you'd still eventually have to obtain it.

The curtain will go on top of the existing iron railings which are 3ft high

Does this require building approval and is there a restriction on the height of the railing which in effect will be increased from currentley 3ft to at least 10ft high?
