I've not had a water bill for nearly 6 weeks and neither has my nearest neighbour. Just a bit concerned because the water is incrementally priced for every 5 tonnes. I have used 47 tonnes in 6 weeks so my bill is going to be a high one because the water I am now using is costing 10tl a tonne, twice as much as the basic charge of 5tl per tonne! If I'd received it on time, after 4 weeks I would have only used around 35.

We live near Rafters and have had our bills on time, however sometimes the meter reader man on his moped runs out of paper so therefore no bill is left, however if you go to the office in town with an old bill they can bring up your bill on their system and you can pay it there rather than let it accumulate which of course should not happen if your meter has ben read on time.

47 tonnes in 6 weeks in Ozankoy!!!! Don't let RR find out, she has not had water for over a week up until the new pipework went in! I don't think you would receive much sympathy from that quarter.

Too right,waddo, and having at last go connected and a supply, I have now gone another two days without water apparetntly because "they are digging"!!!!

I reckon I can offset any charge for supply of water with a claim for tanker water, extra transport costs as a result of being blocked in, damage to my health and medical costs from breating in dust and fumes, not to mention cost of complete clean of house and contents(including me and dogs)

Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean "water bill"? Doesn't everyone have a meter card that is topped up and entered on the water meter rather than a bill?

Quite a few still have the old meters

My friends in Ozankoy have been without water for over two weeks and are having to buy tankers.
Their meter has been moved to the roadside away from their gate and they have been told that they are responsible for buying and laying the pipe work from the meter to their house, some sixty metres up a winding drive.
Not sure why the meter has been moved unless it is to save the guy on the moped time from not walking or riding up their drive.
They are awaiting their water bill, it might be interesting since water is no longer physically flowing into their tanks.
I might add they are not happy bunnies!

And people say that there is no such thing as "A licence to print money"!!!!

I don't understand why they do not go to the Belediye and TELL the Mayor to send a tanker - it is his responsibility to ensure that everyone in his area receives water, one way or another. If they say he's busy, get them to 'phone through to him, and say that you are going to sit outside his office until he comes out to see you!

It's what we did in Alsancak when the water was cut off, and a Belediye tanker arrived within hours. Don't take 'No' for an answer, and insist on seeing 'The Man Himself' if the minions don't do what you want...

My neighbours arranged a tanker for us during the pipe laying in Ozankoy the driver said the bele would pay.

I am getting really tired of making this point but not everyone is lucky enough to be able bodied and there are places some of us cant get to : and that includes quite a few elderly Cypriot ladies who are also suffering from the water situation. The Belediye in Ozankoy is on a sharp corner at the top of a steep hill, and the office itself is then up set of dangerous and steep steps. Furthermore what little street parking is available is always occupied by the**** 4 x 4s.

Anyway currently the office of the Mehtar is short handed as you may have noted on another thread that Zoe who handles English speaking queries is off on maternity leave!

Further the state the road has been left in by the water works I think actually the only thing that could actually access it at the moment probably is in fact a 4 x 4!

You can always go into Girne Belediyesi which is a very short level walk from the car park. There is a guy in there who speaks English.

Ozankoy comes under Girne Belidye, the office were Zoe works takes payments etc on behalf of them, has I said my kind Cypriot turkish speaking neighbour rang the Bele in Girne not sure which department and arranged a tanker which we shared around 3 properties, when I asked the driver how much, he said the Belediye was paying.
