Hi,
Someone informed me the ban on taking laptops on flights to the UK had been relaxed, I cannot find that rule anywhere? Has anyone traveled recently please?

Hi Mollie
Like you, we are keen to learn if this will happen anytime soon.
What you may have heard is that the restrictions have been lifted on flights to America. The jury is still out for UK flights but I believe there is a meeting today to discuss lifting the ban. (Tuesday 25/7/17)
Watch this space.

There is extra security checks when leaving Turkey for the UK we had gone through 2 lots of security but when we got to the departure gate at Izmir all hand luggage was searched, everything was removed and swabbed the swabs were then put through a machine, camera and phone had to be switched on while they were swabbed, this was just for the UK, there were 10 police/security guards doing the checks.

The U.K. government website has been updated today to say that the ban has been lifted on Istanbul Sabia Gokcen airport. The website will be updated on an airport by airport basis.

I checked the TA website and couldn't find any confirmation. I'd wait until it is confirmed there, if that's who you are flying with

I agree with Terri about being cautious. As when I checked the TA site the old version shows an announcement dated 28 July which says laptops to Uk is now OK, but the new Site version version still carries the no laptop message.Plus the complication of the UK Dep. of Transport putting out statements covering single airports.

Can you clarify please whether you flew from Turkey to UK, or vice versa? Also if from Turkey to UK, which Turkish airport?
From my understanding, it's okay to fly from UK to Turkey without checking in devices, but a different matter the other way, until such time as they do get the okay from the UK. Sabiha Gocken is shown as being ok on the UK website, but nothing about Ataturk yet.

I flew from Ercan to Stansted via Attaturk Istanbul with Atlasglobal on Tuesday 1st August. You were not allowed any electronic devices and lots were being taken off people at Istanbul.
Returned from Stansted to Ercan via attaturk Istanbul on Sunday 6th August and it was ok to have your devices with you. The ban is only from Istanbul to the uk not on the way to CYPRUS.

Just to clarify, we flew from ataturk with Turkish Airlines and at the gate we asked if we needed to check in our tablets and laptop and they said no, no need to do that anymore

Thanks Niceone, that's excellent news. Was considering going from Larnaca to UK, which I'd rather not do, normally use TA from here via Ataturk to UK.
