Am keeping an eye out for friends who have a villa on Kiraz Sokak in Ozankoy, they are in UK. Just below Five Fingers, they have had no water for at least 3 weeks. Does any body else have the same problem. Also where is the Belediye and is it a little more accessible than previous posts have suggested due to water pipe works..... I would like to go and thump a few desks is possible. They now have a cockroach problem and I can`t clean up due to no water. Have sprayed but need to clean up the pooh!!
Thanks for any help/

By Five Fingers do you mean the restaurant, the holiday village or the mountain? If the restaurant I live fairly near and I get water, but it is erratic, usually at night and sometimes just dribbles! But usually just enough to fill up the tank. Have you checked you friends' tanks?
Beledye is within walking distance of Five Fingers restaurant for an able bodied person - it is on the corner of narrow roads and difficult for parking. but I am bad at directions and not quite sure where you are so hopefully someone else will come on. As of two days ago it is accessible, bearing in mind a few bumps and pot holes but things change here from day to day. Note that the Muhtar does not speak much English and according to another thread Zoe who usually deals with the British is on maternity leave.
Good luck with your desk thumping. Would you also mention please that the dust being thown up by cars on the rubble left by the water works is making keeping adjacent houses clean impossble and is very unhealthy , and a serious health hazard for those with breathing problems.
The Beledye should come round spraying for the cockroach problems but probably dont bother to call back if no one is in.
The Muhtar's phone number is 815 9255 (prefaced by 0392 from a mobile phone)

The village of Ozankoy and the surrounding roads is a disgrace. Glad I don't live there

Thanks for the phone no. Will ask a Turkish friend to call for me. Most of the houses nearby are unoccupied so can`t ask easily..... I believe the owner has organised for the pool guy to supply a tanker last week but this hasn`t happened yet (funnily enough, nor has the pool been cleaned as he knows they are not there) and I don`t see why they should have to pay for this, as I`ve just paid their standing charges for water...... I thought the Bele HAD to supply water.... Maybe it doesn`t matter if the house is empty.......

I was told the Belediye legally have to provide water at a cost that is no greater than what you would normally. pay. Alsancak offered a free tanmer of water when we had a water problem a couple of months ago.

Ozankoy Belediye is in Girne,if you've got a local Turkish Cypriot they may know the number to ring for free tanker of water.
During the pipe laying I ordered and paid for a tanker just before they started on my street a week later the same tanker came for free when a neighbour arranged it.

Making phone calls today, discover that mains water to this area of Ozankoy will be at least another week..... due to the water pipeworks......
