As I can recall - a copy of your passport page ( take passport because can't remember if you need that also.)
2 passport size photos - not smiling. We had ours done at photographer opposite the main car park.
Your Turkish driving licenses. They will keep these but hand you a receipt for it. So if stopped for any reason you can prove you have a license and new one pending.
As you go into the office on your right hand side is a desk where you will find forms in English that require filling in.
Then take them all to the relevant desk.
There are other comments on kibkom for this so just double check I've not missed anything

The answer from justsayin is correct, we did ours this week. We took our passports but they did not want them, just the paperwork as stated above. Very quick and easy.

Sorry but the info given in the link is not correct. As I said we did ours last week.

Required application form as previously stated. Two photos. Photo copy of photo page of passport.
TRNC driving licence

You do not need a muchtars letter and they did not want our passports.

There was a list on the side wall listing the above as to what was required.

Saying that perhaps it depends on who serves you, this is the TRNC after all and we all know they change the rules as often as they like.

Poppy,

How very strange - I have never, ever known the BRS to put incorrect information on their website - lol. Maybe when they did the last upgrade in April 2017 it was correct and has since changed, or maybe it was just a "belt and braces" attempt to cover all eventualities so they could never be wrong.
Whatever, it is always best to check before going. A photo of the list could have been useful, not complaining just something I intend to start doing from now on, so that people know the information has come from a direct source.

I would certainly agree with you re BRS information, they are indeed a very good source of info and I certainly would not usually disagree, but in this instance it was slightly out. As I say we did ours last Thursday so the info I gave was correct as of then.

A friend went to the driving school for a first licence and was told that a muhtar letter is not acceptable if under 60 a residents stamp is required?

I need to renew mine this year, however my address is now not the same as my licence. Do I need to just put my new address or is that going to mean extra ID ie: Muhter letter or a trip to Lefkosa?? Anyone had this problem? Many thanks
Boerboel

No you do not need any extras just put your new address on the form when you fill it in.

Friends went to renew theirs recently and as they have no stamps in their passports, as they have had permenant residence for many years, they were told they needed the muhter's letter.

We renewed ours 6 weeks ago, also have permanent residency so no stamps in our passports but we did not require muhtars letter. It's in the same big hall as the car tax desk in the buildings at the side of Girne State Hospital. The first desk on your right for the form.

What document if any do you use to show you have permanent residence if there is no stamp in your passport and did you show this instead?

No we did not have to show our permanent residency document, they take your old driving licence as proof.

Interesting as our friends were told they definitely needed the letter! Perhaps they had a more officious official than you did. Cyprus shrug:-)
