Are there problems flying from Larnaca?

There's been a lot in the news lately about problems with airlines flying into the UK - Like a lot of others I'll be flying from Larnaca in the next couple of weeks - does anyone know if there have been any delays/problems flying from Larnaca? I'm expecting not but it does pay to ask in advance! Thank you for any replies

I don't know but would guess not. The GCs only think of themselves so would not join any collective punishment of Brits over Brexit if it might affect their tourist industry.
But I might be wrong! Actually, I'm never wrong. I thought I was wrong once, but I made a mistake

If you're flying with BA, then I would aim to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before you are due to fly - they had yet another check-in computer systems failure the other day, and everyone had to be checked in manually. They seem to be becoming increasingly unreliable...

The problems are being encountered in countries that are part of the Schengen area as they have introduced new checks for residents of non Schengen countries. Cyprus is not part of Schengen area, so there should be no problems exiting Cyprus.
The 26 Schengen countries are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

I'm flying from Larnaca tomorrow on ba so will post what it's like. I read in the paper that it's going to be the busiest day ever for Cyprus airports! I normally get there about an hour before the flight but will arrive 90 mins before take off tomorrow.

We lived there when the border opened for the first time-and RoC joined the EU. At first they would only allow TC's to cross-then they were told they
must allow EU Citizens to enter. They then refused to allow you to cross if you had entered the Island 'illegally' i.e. through Ercan.
They were then told they MUST allow anyone with an EU passport to enter an EU country-so they had to let us in-but not happy at all.
They can have fun and games when we no longer have EU passports-they are free to impose their own arbitrary sanctions. Who are we going to complain to the ECJ or ECHR? They would happily cut their noses off to spite their faces if it caused harm to the TRNC.

I also remember those days, the only way to get to TRNC was via Turkey and without a shadow of a doubt they will stop non EU citizens from crossing.
I would not attempt to cross if I did not have an EU passport

Calm down. Nothing will change. Your UK passort will be just as acceptable as an EU one.

Yes everywhere EXCEPT at the border of North and south Cyprus

There are demonstrations at some of the crossing points today, Derinya was mentioned in CT. If you're going to the airport might be worth leaving a bit earler even though demos were meant to be at Metehan yesterday.

Bag drop & security took a total of 20 mins. Plenty of passport booths and screening belts were open. It looked as if I'd picked a good time as there didn't seem to be loads of flights being checked in. If you turn up 90 mins before your flight that will be plenty of time.

Thank you Hedge-fund. I'm off at 7.30 pm though so hope that's not too busy a time! contacted Blue Air who suggested I get there 3 hours before, so even if I have to camp out for hours I won't miss my flight, lol, been looking forward to it for too long!

Used Larnaca last Wednesday evening, it was packed but still only took 20 minutes to get through security. Getting something to eat was difficult as queues were up to 30 minutes long. Seating was at a premium and I now remember why I don't normally travel in August, KID'S!

Didn't think they allowed standing on planes!

And this is even before divorce proceedings have been finalised.
What did everyone expect. A Rose garden?
Divorce from the EU , like most divorces are a rough ride.
This one more than most in my opinion.

No one knows what the final "divorce" outcome will look like. We are all second guessing.
There are messy divorces and there are divorces where both sides part amicably and go their own way.
The important thing is that one party had decided; enough is enough and wants out of the relationship. Better to part than continue on becoming more unhappy and frustrated with the way things were going.
Well done to the people of the UK for making the decision to leave the EU. I am still positive that a year on from that day when the majority decided the UK will be leaving the EU it was the right decision. The UK economy has not gone into free fall despite the gloom and doom predictions.
Finally for those who have made North Cyprus their home:-
July 2016 £ = 3.95TL
August 2017 £ = 4.60TL
An interesting couple of years ahead.
Edit: This is off topic in response to was 24-7s post, so if we get more posts and into a discussion about leaving the EU I will move these threads and start a new topic.

This is a internal EU problem regarding the schengen area and increased security checks nothing to do with Brexit.
Last time I flew into Manchester I joined the queue EU nationals passport holders that snaked out of hall into the corridor, and watched has 2 Americans I'd talked to walked directly straight upto their own "other passport holders" desk.

At Manchester there are now three separate queues in passport control, the EU passport holders, other passport holders and another for families with children under 12, it did speed up quite a bit at the EU passport desks, some families were not very happy because the queue was massive and this was 2 weeks before the school holidays.

Neither Cyprus nor the UK are in the schengen area so amy delays at Larnaca (which we have established are non existent) are nothing to do with the EU.

Schengen agreement is intrinsically liked to members of the Union and secures additional rights to free passage.
The significant point here is that EU citizens have very general right of passage regardless of Schengen.
When divorced from the EU the privilege to right of passage is forfeited under the general rules of membership.
In fact if the UK was party to Schengen then the right to free passage would remain regardless of EU membership.
