Yesterday I was handed a leaflet with properties for sale, the usual sort of thing on it but then noticed there is also a lovely stretch of beach going cheap!! Iskele - Bogas 76 donums (25 acres) 6,500,00 GBP. I wonder who actually owns it?

It could be a leasehold on the 'operating concession ' perhaps...

Update: -

The property is being marketed by Busy Bees, ref hp425
- I would suggest that any questions are directed to them

I thought all beaches were owned by the public, or is that just access?

frontalman, that is written into the constitution that the beaches are in the public domain and can not be owned by anyone! That is why any "citizen" of the TRNC can demand access to any beach in the North. There is even a group of activists that go to all sorts of beaches (owned by hotels) and demand access.

I doubt it actually includes the beach itself, and this snippet from the advert leaves me wondering how long it has been for sale?

"This area of Northern Cyprus is truly the hotspot of the region with the stunning new resort hotels at Bafra underway and the commencement of the construction of the Karpaz Gate Marina on the Karpaz peninsular"

I am 90% sure of this. but do not hit me if I am wrong,

I believe it is not "beach" that is in the public domain but "foreshore" the latter of course needed for access to the sea. "Beach" does not necessarily include the foreshore and this might explain the apparent cheap price!

I am also not sure if the "public" as such own the foreshore but just have rights of access, which means it is technically illegal t o block access to the foreshore!

Thanks Soner for reinforcing that point. That was the price I quoted in the original message but people thought it was "going cheap"!!!!! They obviously have a lot more money that I have if 6,500.000 is a snip.

Oh b+++er, not many picked that up, and if they did they were mostly too polite to have a go at me! Thanks for pointing it out. Regardless, I still don't want it and I hope no-one else does either. BTW: on the same leaflet was a plot of land i.e. 1 donum and 3 evleks - prime land at 240,000 GBP (and I have the right number of 0's) Somewhere in Lapta. Another one a bit rich for us!

Thank you Soner for posting the link with the actual facts,

What seems to me most important are the facts that planning permission apparently already exists despite is being on "public" land! and the statement that citizenship is automatic "at this level of investment".

I think this bears out my concerns expressed on another thread about purchasing citizenship, and those who attacked me there might be thinking again when it hits so close to home and they can see that one of the great assets of this country is being sacrificed for mammon and lost for ever.
