Lost MOT certificate

We have to tax our car this week, we seem to have lost our mot certificate, I assume we need it to tax the car, does it mean we have to have to have the cat mot'd again?

go to the tax office they have a register of when mot's are done theres a fee just like the uk you then go to the test station and they issue a replacement
They taxed the car without the replacement
I was able to tell them the day I bought the mot from my card statements
I've now found the mot and log book
