Whilst working at The Hut in Girne this morning we had a lovely couple pop in to have a browse and as you do you get chatting!
Their names are Brian and Joe Birch and they have been taking holidays here in North Cyprus for numerous yeas and each time they have been trying to trace a couple who moved to the island about 11 years ago.
They used to be good friends back in the UK and all were from the Sheffield area but unfortunately over the years they have lost touch with each other.
All Brian and Joe know is that Lionel and Janice Holmes were having their own home built close to Kyrenia
They had actually been in to the BRS office to see if they knew of Lionel and Janice and if truth be known I hi-jacked them to come into the shop.
Lovely couple who are staying at Sammy's Hotel for another 3 weeks and who would love to hear from Lionel and Janice Holmes or anyone who knew or knows them here.
This could be the North Cyprus '' Friends Reunited'' or even a new ''Surprise! Surprise' !

Trickie, I live close to that estate, albeit I do not know this couple. If you can confirm No 13 as their house number, I will pop round.

BBB do you have contact details, ' phone number etc for the Birch's? If so, and I can meet up with the Holmes, I can pass them on or leave the details with a neighbour or in the Sportsman's Bar on the Estate.

They are here on holiday for another three weeks and are staying at Sammy's Hotel in Girne.
I have told them the days I am working at the charity shops and they said they will pop in.
Any help much appreciated and would just love this to work for them.

Sorry got the number wrong! It is No 14 and the villa painted yellow directly opposite the restaurant that used to be called "Gorgeous" but is now "Charlies".

They don't live in cyprus permanently, and are selling that house. Save you a journey

Maybe just ask them if they want to be put in touch.

The villa has been half-heartedly on the market for some years now so doesn't mean they are not there although "Yes and no" are correct that they are no longer permanently out there.

If they are back in the UK, try http://www.192.com/ for either name, look for results in the Sheffield area initially (or a wider area if you think that they may have moved), results normally show other people registered at the address also, which should give you a lead or two to use on the online directory enquiries...

The email address given in message 14 is correct.
They are flying into Larnaca tomorrow (5th) evening staying for a month or thereabouts so should be available to meet up with their visiting friends from then on!

I have just got back from working at Heartbeat and I have had an email from LIONEL the man himself!
He served in the army with Brian Birch and so as soon as possible there will be - SURPRISE! SURPRISE at Sammy;s.
I have asked him to let me know when this happens so I can put an update on here because without the help of Kibkom and its members, this would not be.

Evening all,
Would just like to share with you what I have been told today!
I was not working at The Hut this morning but my friend was and he had a visit from a very happy couple who were looking for the ''young'' lady (compliment or what!} to thank me for tracking down their friends that they had been searching for every time they visited North Cyprus over many years.
The reunion has happened and it seems there were happy tears all round!
They are going to try and get in to see me on Saturday when I will be working at The Hut and I can't wait.
Just made my day so wanted to share the good news and say a BIG thank you to everyone who helped with this via the forum.

Cats, horses, people but somehow since we have moved out here it has been mainly dogs because of the dire straights they are in!

I have been working at the NCCCT's charity shop The Hut this morning and have had two very happy visitors, Brian and Jo Birch.

They would like me to pass on their sincere thanks to everyone who has helped them have the reunion that they had nearly given up on.
Brian told me that he could not put into words what he felt when he saw Lionel waiting in Sammy's this week and they are all going to spend the day together tomorrow as well. I bet there will be some stories told!

They have promised to come and see me next time they come on holiday to North Cyprus and I am sure they will.
