Can anyone tell me if there are any shops that sell cheap off the shelf reading glasses.

Mr Pound ones are OK, but sadly the Optical Viewing spot is not always in the center of the plastic and you have to be prepared to stick them on the end of your nose to get them right. However, they must have just had a delivery because they have hundreds of them at the moment. I'd prefer to spend a bit more than 6tl and buy mine from Akay Optic. Horses for Courses!!

DVD shop they did do reading sunglasses as well ,and ok to read with better than most

Missus asked for some Reading glasses at one of the Main Road chemists at Alsancak/Lapta. Lady opened a dust covered box and produced a cheap Jazzy pair which were superb.
