Hi All

We almost definitely have termites in some of our door frames downstairs. Can we have some advice on what we should do and or seek help from. We live in Çatalköy.

We and our neighbours have all had termites in door frames over the past 2 or 3 years. The door frames all needed to be replaced. As soon as we discovered them we took the facings off the frames and sprayed with insect killer, Coban sell a product which kills the termites which is painted on with extreme care. We were told by the carpenter that the wood used for the door frames had not been properly treated to prevent infestation.
Hope this is of some help.

The door frames are usually go below floor level and don't sit on the flooring and the termites get in that way.
If you go to the Belediere at Catalkoy they will phone a company, the name escapes me, and they will come out and treat the problem areas for you.

Thank you both for your replys. We will give the Belediye a go today. Have stripped off all door frames for now.

Was in Coban yesterday but they didn't seem to have anything for termites when we asked.

You can get it from most garden shops. We got it from the one near the state hospital on the way to Girne next to the locksmiths.

FROG pest control company would check and treat your property.

I know that they have recommended in the past, that walls and floor be drilled, and 'stuff' applied into the holes, as the termites infest the ground...

They're not cheap though!
