Worn bearings? If so they should be replaced immediately to prevent further damage.

Re: noisey water pump
A lot of the pumps sold here originate from China and I'm afraid are not up to the job.

Noisy pumps are best - you need to know when you spring a leak, otherwise the leccy bill will be sky-high!

A noisy pump will let you down just when you need it most...frontalman wrote:Noisy pumps are best - you need to know when you spring a leak, otherwise the leccy bill will be sky-high!
Yeah and the other bonus is it will annoy your neighbours creating a warm atmosphere

Re: noisey water pump
Our pump is underground next to our pool pump, so although it is noisy, we only hear an undulating hum when in the house. But we prefer to be able to hear it, so we know if there is a problem.Groucho wrote:A noisy pump will let you down just when you need it most...frontalman wrote:Noisy pumps are best - you need to know when you spring a leak, otherwise the leccy bill will be sky-high!

We haven't yet managed to find the outer boundaries to our property, so don't have to worry about neighbours, whatever they are!

That's a good point!kerry 6138 wrote:Is it pumping ok and just noisey, could be air in the pump if not.
To get any trapped air out of the pump, slacken off the bleed nut on the top of the pump housing - it's usually square, and may have a diagonal screwdiver slot (corner to corner).
Wait until air stops 'hissing out' and water starts to appear, then tighten back up, rather like bleeding a radiator.
