A great article in the Telegraph.
I wonder if the EU can be forced to sit up and take notice though!!

some of us knew that for years, and what is all this talk about 'peace Talks' - WE HAVE PEACE, what we do not have is reconciliation, and the powers that be, certainly in the south DO NOT WANT IT.
talk about jobs for the boys.

Would anyone here actually see this has "A highly advanced economy" and where is the affluence, someone lead me to it please! And btw, no mention of WHY there is peace (as defined by the absence of intercommunal violence) or that the Turkish Army might have had something to do with it.

However as an MEP said on Euronews ablout 6 months ago when the subject of Turkish forces residing in the North came up, "Turkey can do nothing, as The South is in the EU, one bullet aimed down South, would be one bullet aimed at the whole if the EU, that's the way it works"!!

Yep, I certainly agree about the inaccuracy about the strong economy and affluence in the North. But it is interesting that when the EU commission an enquiry like that they then sit on the results and do nothing to date. Perhaps this now being leaked to the press might make them start talking about the whole charade.

“Merry-go-round” of “joke” peacemaking projects which are little more than subsidies for an army of aid consultants in Cyprus.

Sophie: Point taken, but surely Turkish forces are here in a deterrant capacity and one bullet aimed North would be at a NATO member! I wonder what sort of "peace" there would be without them.

As for the economy -imho - you can't have a a successful economy if you are unable to trade. Maybe that is the reason for the reason they sit on the results - accepting them would admit that the logical progression is to recognise the TRNC and lift embargos.

Thanks for posting this article.Unfortunateley,if i hadnt read the piece on Kibkom, then i wouldnt have known about the money squandering.Articles like these need to be read by the masses, and not the few.How this can be done,i dont know.

Yes, thanks for posting.

But, Doger, I think a lot of people are pretty sure that that EU is a jolly good bank wagon for politicians, civil servants, journalist, administrators, etc. etc. to get on for free lunches and expense paid trips abroad etc. I hadnt thought about consultants, but it figures.

May I suggest this link: http://www.kibkom.com/forum/en/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3967 is added to your facebook accounts and see how much response we get. May need to add more to the title like "Is the truth finally being told about Cyprus".

I have worked in the Civil Service and know first hand how money paid by the hard working tax payer is spent without an ounce of care.

Thanks Twaddle for the great article.
