Car tax in advance??

Can you pay car tax before it is due please??

I was refused on the 25th September and it was due on 30th September...

I think you can only pay a couple of days before it's due however you have the full month after it's due to renew it without a fine.

I do not think you can in case the Government suddenly decides to increase the fees.

I tried to renew mine on Friday 29th September in readiness for Monday 2nd October but was told by a very nice lady that their system would only allow renewals AFTER the expiry date and not before!!
I was also told that if you opt for a 6 month tax period, at the end of that period you can only renew for a further 6 months before being able to go for an annual period!!

Re 6 month renewal we were told that too, that you have to do 2 six months, you can't do a six month followed by a year. So at least the information is consistent, must admit I thought they were pulling my leg.
