There's that word again INVASION ... even after all this time the politicians still won't acknowledge what really went on here

There is no twisted version of events he will not support in pursuit of power and his agenda... Shame on him.

Have looked at Oh Jeremy Corbyn's speech and can find no use of the word "invasion". So just a another sneaky attempt by Cyprus Mail to smear anyone who has a good word for reunification of the island on anything but full Greek terms.

"There`s NO twisted version of events he WILL support in pursuit of power and his agenda":well fair play to Mr. Corbyn then for going with the straight up version.Given Mrs.disMAY`s latest little setback over the Universal Credits rollout fiasco a general election is looking increasingly likely to be on the cards and Mr.Corbyn could be taking up residence in No.10 Downing Street.
P.S.,what price now your sordid little deal with the DUPlicitious party Mrs.disMAY.

The word 'invasion' is in the second paragraph, very near top of article.

Hi Sammydavis. Well, yes, the word "invasion" is there in the article, but it's not in quotation marks. That's because JC did not use it - the Cyprus Mail reporter made it up.
Here's something he actually did say: "I recognise that the UK is a guarantor power and I want a Labour government to ensure that we fulfil our obligations, to ensure that this means the island of Cyprus gets reunified". Can't wait.

Nothing on the BBC website, not seen any mention in on line newspapers.

There is no mention of an entity called TRNC, only reference to Greek and Turkish Cypriots, what the North needs is the UK “Guarantor Power” to recognise it in order to give it some equality with the South during periods of unification talks, this is another political spin job to get votes come election time.

There used to be an all party group of parliamentarians called e, ither "Friends of North Cyprus" or "Friends of the TRNC" , I forget which, which did actually support the rights of Turkish Cypriots and recognition of the TRNC. I wonder what happened to it.

This is obviously a vote-catching stunt because of the number of Cypriots in his constituency. I wonder what the Turkish Cypriots of his constituency think about Mr. Corbyn and his speech.

INVASION !!!!!!

I didn't read it. - I watched him give the speech

YES. He did use the word on more than one occasion. It was very clear who he supports. I'm pretty sure the people he supports don't speak Turkish.

More political clap-trap. One comment states:
'Artic Monkey by the very use of the word Invasion by Corbyn instead of intervention shows you who side he is on'
Absolutely - the word invasion demonstrates that he is in tune with the GREEK version/view.

while the North and Turkey argues over the use of which word we should use to describe fighter jets ,paratroopers, landing craft as seen by the world on TV news broadcast in 74, the less importance we give to the reasons which were mainly reported in printed news media over the years if at all.

Maybe the 'world on TV news broadcast' should have shown more of the massacres of the innocents by the EOKA B terrorists but the reporters of the day said the images were too distressing to show....

I have no problem with the word invasion and to be honest find it quite picky to keep using it as an argument. To me the invasion was necessary in order to intervene. I don't really care what Corbyn said his words have no value to me and it will be sad day for the UK and the Labour Party if he ever leads them to an election win.

He's old-school Labour with all the ensuing politics of envy - you know, those who have nothing and wishing to share it with everyone! Unfortunately many of the younger generation are simply too young to remember the heady days of Labour under the likes of Harold Wilson and don't appreciate the danger of old-school Labour. It's a scary thought...

I've watched the launch of this group to see for myself and it was on "Hellenic TV in the UK"! It's grim viewing but the usual GC fare, no surprise there. What I did find shocking was the ignorance, naivety and gullability of the M.P's who were speakers. Most of them said that it was a shame about Cyprus because, "they were such lovely people and gave us a good time while we there". Honest. One speaker admited she had no Knowledge of Cyprus, had never been but wanted to show her "solidarity"!
It transpires that the person who is responsible for the group has/had worked for Mr Corbyn in Parliament or in his constituency (I can't remember which) that has a considerable G.C. population. In his opening speech Mr Corbyn did use the word "Invasion" but did not elaborate other than stating that Great Britain was a guarantor and should be doing more to achieve a lasting peaceful settlement.
In full view was a a large poster displaying the objective of the group that " There should exist a Free and United Cyprus without the Armies of Occupation".
I did not take any notes when watching the rather lengthy and tedious proceedings so I am relying on memory but I have contacted the Labour Party in the UK asking them and Mr Corbyn to clarify their position regarding the "Labour Party Friends of Cyprus" and the plight of the Turkish Cypriots.
This was on the ninth of November.
