Hi All

Just returned and have found that our swimming pool floor has brown staining mainly on the floor side perimeter. Villa was been occupied and pool cleaned by friends. Can anyone advise on the probable cause and rectification short of emptying pool and cleaning, brushing will not shift the stains. Have tried putting chlorine direct into pool but no joy
Thanks

Our friends have the same problem and were told by their pool man that it is acid burns..
I’m sure they would like to have a second opinion.

I recomnend going to Pooltech for advice but I suspect it is caused by the pool cleaner putting chlorine directly into the pool and this will eventually affect the glaze and make the tiles more porous and therefore more likely to stain. Chlorine should only be put in the balance tank where is dissolves before it circulates with the water in the pool. I have however noticed numerous pool cleaners throwing the chlorine directky into the pool where it sits on the bottom on the tiles!

My guess would be brown algae... Most probably caused by people swimming in the sea then the pool without washing costumes in between.

It is very tough to remove and I have emptied the pool and scrubbed it off before now... it did not come back.
