Are the MOT dates for 2018 out yet?

As far as I am aware, they have not been published yet - they are normally made available at the beginning of the year.
If they follow last year's pattern, then private vehicles will all be bunched up towards the last months of 2018 - unless someone knows better!

Private vehicles generally start end of august, if you have a commercial vehicle ASK if the list is not on the wall when its due especially if you think its in January, every year ours has been going back by about a week. Last year the first date was in December and we did not have the normal 2 weeks as the time also had been reduced.
This post has been a great reminder! Thank you

Sorry just to clarify as have never noticed this, are you saying that no private MOT's take place until August every year?
Am asking for a friend who does not live here full time whose car is two letters on from the last date published of 22/11/17 but when I asked at the desk they just said 'next year'

My 2014 test date was October. 2017 date was August. So best check as soon as 2018 dates issued

I have placed a photograph of the 2018 MOT dates on Facebook - went to Girne to collect Road tax yesterday. There is a copy on the wall opposite the desk where you pay. My photo is too large to place on here.

...and for those who don't 'do' facebook...
Bear in mind that Private (Özel) cars are in section D

Don't wish your life away, just pop into the police station with your documents, speak to the policeman who gleefully accepts payments for speeding fines, and he will tell you exactly !

That's the reason we like it here, it's so unpredictable - as swallows we have to plan ahead for such things as MOT and Car Tax, booking flights in advance to get a better deal and keeping the TRNC economy going.

Thanks for all the info people. I’ve checked the list and the number plate letters for a car in question are not in section D, but in section A. It is a private vehicle. Should I go by the dates in section A?
Thanks in advance for any advice

Section D is for private vehicles. If the number plate does not appear in section D then I would hazard a guess.....and it’s only a guess that no MOT is due this year. However, more knowledgeable people may be able to confirm.

Correct! - but do check the published schedule, as dates may vary...

You pay a little more - a 'fine' for being late, but it's only a small amount.
You might get a bigger fine if you were stopped by the Police for a document check, or even more hassle if you had an accident and no MOT --- I would think that in the latter case you could be prosecuted...
