Hi
Can anyone tell me if I brought a secondhand TV into Ercan or Larnaca I would have to pay tax on it
I would have the receipt I paid in the uk on me to prove it’s secondhand

one would hope not , but rather depends on the official on duty at the time , likewise (if arriving at Larnaca), the official at Metahan , were you to declare it

If it goes in a suitcase, you would probably be ok coming into Ercan. We were stopped at Ercan at one point and asked if we had anything to declare, carrying in a large mirror, which was well packaged, but too large for a suitcase. As soon as they found out it wasn't a tv, they were not interested, and let us go on our way. I suspect there would have been a charge if it had been a television.

Would advise bringing the receipt with you anyway. From memory though, when bringing in a container , with large and small flatscreen tv's, and a computer monitor, which they insisted was a tv, we were charged the tax at the same price for each item. Didn't seem to make any difference if they were new or used. We just assumed there was a flat rate per tv, no matter the size or age.
