Universal Bank

For those of you that bank in the Catalkoy branch they have a new lady manager Selda. She has been working in London and now here so very good english spoken Had a long chat with her today and she is full of good ideas and is trying to upgrade everything before the branch moves down the road a short distance soon.

Thanks for that info. We've banked with them for many years mostly just for paying bills etc. Very mixed and often frustrating results, including one episode when we were given a complete stranger's bank book when we were having ours updated. Didn't realise til we got home.
Perhaps we can now look forward to them ' upping their game' !

Don't suppose they would consider "upping their game" to include sterling in the ATM? I did ask Credit West today if they were going to add sterling to their ATM, as they are proudly saying they are the EXPAT bank - got the shrug as normal.

I've been told by 3 Turkish banks here, that only they can dispense sterling under International Banking Rules and Regs. I.e. Garanti, TEB, Secker (there may be others but since HSBC "went", I can't think of any)

I did mention it to her its a cypriot bank so maybe they cant ? They have set up a new money transfer system which is quite inexpensive the bank was heaving yesterday.

Sophie: you are correct in saying that only Turkish banks can dispense foreign currency via their ATMs. Apart from the ones that you mentioned, Is Bank also pays out sterling.
