Do You Have A Building Permit?

I am hoping to compile a data set in conjunction with HBPG in order to go to authorities and hopefully find a resolution to this major problem.
In earlier work I have found that many people do not even know that they do not have a building permit, they have been told a number by the builder/developer and avocat but it is just that! Until recently numbers were given out on the assumption that the permit would be paid for later, in hundreds of cases it was not. I even tested the system by checking a friends details at the Kaymakam, then advised friend to ask avokat if their site had a permit. The answer came back as "yes". My friend went back and asked the avokat if the permit had been paid for, to this day they have never had a reply. I knew the answer, there was no paid for permit so their site is illegal.
Having a kocan is no confirmation of permit either, the only time you may become aware of no permit is when electric project is refused and final approval is denied.
Initially I want info on my own area, Lapta/Karsiyaka. If you would tell me which area and how many homes on your site.
If I receive sufficent response I will contact you again to inform you of what we intend to do and what if any further info we may need to move forwards. Please e-mail or PM via this forum. If there is little or no response I will delete all your contact details and post on here appropriatley.
Before it is asked, yes we have an interest - no building permit and still on builders electric after nearly 7 years.

Friends of ours have been living in their villa for 5 years and on builder electric, didn't realise until we were comparing bills, went to get it changed at Kibtec and were told their house was not registered. Went to belayde and were told no building permit was issued, been running round for weeks now trying to sort it out as they remember paying £2500 to builder for architect to get building permit. They will remain on builders electric until sorted out as Kibtec wont move on it, estimated time at least 6 months even with the Belayde pushing and behind them.
They estimate it's going to cost at least £4,500 to sort out, the beylade are being supportive and trying to help as they realise the couple actually did everything correctly but got shafted
If permission is not retrospectively given then they will have to pull their place down, their pool isn't registered either, another nightmare for them
Glad I have to pay my electric bill to Kibtec, it means my place is registered

Kib Tec will NOT connect electric until there is a building permit. We have been chasing our tails for so long and spent so much money that if we had known 5 years ago we would have paid the permit for the whole site ourselves. But then we did not know lawyers were so incompetent in property deals. The lawyer I mentioned in original post is actual one that many people recommend, the firm is OK when things are going OK but heven help you if it drifts from the norm.
We have offered to pay our share to authorities to try to get our own electric sorted but the answer is all or nothing. Interesting given the government is bankrupt they refuse to accept partial payments. Our neighbour and ourselves even thought of paying for the whole site but then figured that the illigitmate builder who has two half built properties would benefit!!! So no way. Calculated cost of permit as opposed to builders electric and we would be talking 10 years pay back time.
halfful,
they will not pull down any properties, well 99% certain, as there are hundreds in same position.
What I am trying to do is set in motion a campaign to try to get those in charge to listen and work out how much cash is missing from the coffers. It is not only builders permits, there are transfer taxes, KDV, connection fees for Kib Tec, the list is endless and the cost was worked out by Marian Stokes to be in the region of £90 million a couple years ago.
So far no contacts from all the views, may be it is fear or may be it is me!!!!!!! If we do nothing then nothing will get done. If we do something and nothing gets done at least we have made an effort.

Sounds a nightmare situation. When we bought it was on builder's electric and we paid money for an inspection fee (which I suspect was OTT) but it means our electric has been far, far cheaper ever since. I don't think many people know about this building permit thing.
it could well be that readers on here are NOT the ones who have problems, but maybe they could tell their friends as it might help them.
also, have you spoken to Making North Cyprus Better Movement, as maybe this is something they could handle as wlel - unless of course going independent is a better path.

Interesting, over 300 hits but nobody has a problem with their building permit.

I gave you one example, although it's not for me to give their names and situation without their approval and their away at present, I could name two other people I know who are on builders electric, but again it's for them to come forward if they wish to

It is the result I expected. Nobody is prepared to stand up and fight for their rights. No doubt quite happy for someone else to stick head above parapet and maybe get a result that will help everyone.
Me and other half said we would try to generate some interest but as everyone is happy with their situation I will let the subject drop.
I will request Moderators lock this thread as it serves no further purpose.
