TRNC Flights so expensive

Just wanted to know if any one knows why flights to TRNC this year around July time are so expensive ? I normally travel to TRNC twice a year normally April and July. I fly out from Stansted London to Ercan via Pegagus. I have already booked the April flight to TRNC for £200. However I cannot get a flight to TRNC for July less then £600 at the moment . Last year I bookd the July flight for £350 ?

We have noticed the same. Trying to organise our family coming out and even into the South the prices are crazy - usually they come out towards the end of July and go back August but this year the flights are ridiculous. We are hanging on in the hope that they come down in price - otherwise it will be lonely this summer without them !!!!

I totally agree, at these prices we are not going to be able to see any of the family this year, its just too expensive. Back to using Skype I fear. To fly into any airport other than Stansted is just not feasible I'm afraid.

Dare I mention the 'L' word? - Larnaca...

I just received an email from Cobalt, telling me: -

Cobalt Launches Daily London Heathrow - Larnaca

Cyprus’s largest airline is proud to announce a new daily service beginning March 27th 2018,
linking London Heathrow directly with Larnaca, Cyprus.

Flights will depart Larnaca at 12.45pm and arrive into London Heathrow T3 at 3.45pm.
Heathrow flights will depart at 5.20pm and arrive in Larnaca at 11.50pm.
Book Now from 55 EUROs, one way

It doesn't say what the July prices will be, but have a look!

Must admit I was surprised at my BA flight costs in May LHR - LCA, I know I can get cheaper from LGW but LHR is handy I can get a bus & prefer travel by day & travelling alone is an element of consideration. Will have to bite the bullet.......

Usually get reasonable prices Liverpool/Manchester to Larnaca, especially out of high season.
Booking as soon as the dates become available helps.

I got Liverpool to Larnaca and back ~£60 each way for March, a good ten day visit.

Never flown straight to the north.

The problem is that as soon as its Half Term , Easter Weekend, May bank Holiday or Summer break in UK. up go the prices. even Easy Jet to Paphos, is expensive.

I booked Cobalt two return flights Larnaca to Heathrow, July 4th for £185 each.
Glad I had the message from them as all the flights I had been looking at were a lot more expensive than that, as the original poster stated.
Jet 2 to Stansted was coming out as the most expensive in my search.

Are you looking at Return or Oneway Just looked on Atlas for 28 July Stansted to Ataturk flying at 13.25 and landing at 19.30 £285 And then Skyscanner showed Ataturk to Ercan on Atlas leaving at 20.50 for £49. That is one way.

I am using Skyscanner. I want to go 28th July 14 days return flights. I would like to have night time flight in order that I get there Sunday morning around 8.00am so that I will be able to sort any problems out during the day rather than getting there at night. As mentioned the cheapest I have found is at £500 plus via Pegasus . Last year I booked same flight for around £350 and I booked the flight beginning of January . This year I am finding that the flight prices are not coming down ?

Atlas still showing seats for that date £227

The primary reason for increases is the demise of MONARCH late last year.
That event removed some 40,000 seats to Cyprus per annum in one fair swoop.

Consequently supply and demand forces have driven prices up.
Cobalt and Blue air flying into Larnaca have the upper hand.

Expect prices to go up for flights from UK also due to weakness of sterling against the US $ which is the currency of aircraft fuel

Wow WAZ-24-7 if that is true to what you are saying that means flight prices for the dates I would like to go will not come down ?

Also it doesn't help that the hotel groups have potentially secured 100,000-200,000 tickets for this year.

Jet 2 have taken over a lot of Monarch flights from BHX Larnaca and Paphos

Jet 2 at indeed one of the suppliers who have jumped in to fill the Monarch void.

certainly in time the new operators will meet the demand but not before capitalising on the opportunity to hike prices .
As these operators up their game they will surely compete and drive prices down slightly.
However Monarch was by far the biggest and had the ability, pre the sterling collapse after the 2016 referendum, to secure the majority market share.

I think it is actually cheaper to book a package deal with say, Pia Bella for example, or any other hotel, and then either stay in the hotel or not....it is likely to be cheaper than a flight. No one will be going anywhere from TRNC at this rate.

Travelzoo frequently have good deals to NC including hotel accommodation in Malpas, for example, and car hire. As MrsGee states very often cheaper than the flights alone. They send out a weekly email with all their deals.

Here's the link to subscribe to their emails https://www.travelzoo.com/uk/l/gt/96829 ... rce=_local

I saw how pricey when I was booking to come out a couple of weeks ago so I only bought single flights.

I plan to get a ferry to Tasucu then go back by train. I’ll get to Istanbul then probably Bucharest; Budapest; Vienna; Frankfurt; Paris; London…. Yes, I know I had better take sandwiches. And a bottle of water. Seriously - would very much like to hear from anyone else bonkers enough to have done this.

Plenty of return flights available with Turkish Airlines for that period from £273 - £358, ECN to London.
Yesterday I booked two flights to Manchester 1 - 13 August for £340 return per person.

Slightly off topic, but previous posters brought up Cobalt Air. I spoke with a neighbour yesterday who informed me she had booked two separate flights on different dates with the airline. She had now been informed of changes in flight timings, arrival airport and dates for both flights. Now she has to rearrange her UK itineraries, car-hire and misses an important family occasion. So, bucket airlines may not be the answer, even if they are cheaper than scheduled flights.

She may be entitled to demand that Cobalt re-book her on a flight with another airline, at their cost, not hers, rather than having to alter her itinerary - it's worth looking into!
Has your airline changed your flight time? Know your rights
