just wondering if anyone has had any problems like we experienced late last night, long story short we needed a chemist, so looked up online the duty chemist rota and proceeded to the supposed chemist on duty (aydin eczanesi) but found that it wasn't open. ended up driving to girne but had no luck finding the other listed duty chemist, double checked on another closed pharmacy door to see that aydin eczanesi (near laconic in alsancak) definitely was supposed to be on duty but all closed, no lights on, tried number but no answer either. Luckily it wasn't a dire emergency, but if someone required something quickly then perhaps it could be a bit of a nightmare.
I can't imagine it ideal for anyone who can't drive and end up getting a taxi only to find the duty one closed. sorry not meant to be a rant, just wondering if the duty chemist is only open between certain hours or something or if anyone can shed any light as not sure how it operates here compared to elsewhere.

As far as I am aware, if the Chemist listed as 'On Duty' is not actually there, they should at least come back out when you ring them - so on the face of it, Hatice has something to answer for - but I think that you should definitely call in and ask them before we form a 'hanging party'

One other point - which doesn't appear to be applicable in this case - is that, on occasion, I've found that the online Rota doesn't agree with the one printed in Cyprus Today! - but at least the information displayed on the doors of the other Chemists has always been correct, as far as I could see...

Please let us know if you get an explanation of what went wrong in this case.

Regarding difficulty finding addresses - many years as a Service Engineer taught me never to set off without consulting a map! - although I do realise that you initially set off to go to Aydın Eczanesi, and didn't expect to have to go exploring!

I find that a 'Map App' on your 'phone is a boon in those circumstances...

ahh right, thanks very much for replying. should have called the chemist again. at least i know for next time (hopefully wont be a next time of needing a chemist but never know). daft thing was that chemist was nearer so only looked where that was on a map, only use google maps on laptop as not got maps on mobile phone. i wouldnt have a clue haha. luckily got sorted in a chemist closer to home today. definitely no need for a hanging party, was just one of them things i guess. i suppose with hindsight the on duty chemist could be sat inside, open all night waiting for nobody to arrive
