What do you mean by a soup maker? Wouldn't any liquidiser do the trick? That's what I always use and if I say so myself, I make some pretty nifty soups.

This explains the difference between "mere" liquidizers/blenders and "proper" soupmakers. OH has a soupmaker and it is very versatile; choice of smooth or chunky soups, cooks them etc. Depends how much you like soup....
(Sorry, this is in UK!)

depends how long you blend them for. Soup maker - something else to find a cupboard for!

I'm with you there Kath. I worked out not long ago that I could rid myself of loads of so gadgets and have cupboards and cupboards of spare room. I make some really nifty soups from "proper lumpy" minestrone to smooth and sumptuous cauliflower cheese and barely a gadget in sight.

I have the perfect soup maker. It's called the 'Wife' no extra gadgets and waste. I also, really like the Batchlors Cupa a soup and Ainsley Harriet's spicey soup.

Why waste money on a soup maker when it's so easy to make in a pan, they only make enough for one or two at a push, I make a big pan full from fresh vegetables blend for a couple of seconds to leave it chunky and it lasts 3 or 4 days for two of us.

I had a soup maker that I used twice, recently did some decluttering and it ended up at the charity shop!

This forum is getting like 44 used to be, the original poster asked a simple question and all they get back is sarcastic comments.

I did say that I've only seen them for sale in the south, bit more helpful than some remarks.

Sorry, The Young Ones, I'm sure none of us wanted to appear either patronizing or sarcastic. We were just explaining how most of us don't bother. However, if you were looking for a present for someone, then I think down South is still the answer to your question.

Kath, how much time have you got. I've got the Slimmers World Book of soups in front of me (all of which are scrumptious). There must be at least 100+ from all over the world. Some a tad complicated, and some you could do with your eyes shut and one hand tucked behind your back!!

sophie, if you drop off your recipe book, and tell me which ones are your favourites, I'll scan 'em and post 'em on here...
I'm not going to do a hundred though, so be selective!

I would suggest not too complicated. Unless totally irresistible. I was going to say it’s only soup but...........
