Sour milk

This morning I've had to throw away 3 cartons of Koop semi skimmed milk (pink carton). All were bought last week from Erdener and had an expiry date of 26th May 2018. Clearly a bad batch, just a warning to avoid.

I did take a couple of cartons back to ILELI a while back (can't remember the batch date!) and they cheerfully replaced them...

I just had a look at the dates on some that I bought yesterday, and the expiry date is 27th June - yours seem to be rather older...

Always shake the cartons because they go solid even if in date its how they have been stored or produced

We buy 24 from Erulku each time we go (two boxes). A while ago we had to throw away 8 cartons because they were sour. They were well in date and we have never had any problem before, even in high summer. I told them we would not be the only ones affected and this thread has proven me right. Koop must have a problem somewhere in the production line.

They were not congealed or lumpy - milk was simply off...

Yeah, that's how mine were Groucho, my sense of smell ain't what it used to be, and I didn't notice anything wrong until I added the milk to a cup of coffee and it looked like a 'liquid snowstorm' in the cup!

I am planning bringing it to their attention but not sure when we will be there next, so didn't fancy holding on to them longer than necessary.

??24 Mark?? Is that for Sally to bathe in??
Anyway, what is wrong with fresh milk?
Isn't there a cow on the plot next to your house??

Had the same problem with 2 packs of Koop fully skimmed (purple container) bought in Lemar. It was dreadful, not only the smell but the lumps. Even if they had a good shake it wouldn't take the smell away. Well within date. Lemar not interested.

Seems like they're milking us dry!
Paul, yes we take it to Mavi Kosk and Sal does her Marilyn Monroe impression. There are about 15 cows next to us but I'm blowed if I can catch one

Very interesting! We had a bottle of semi-skimmed with use by date of 18th March turn out to have gone off yesterday (19th) and the back-up carton of long-life semi skimmed was also off.
Maybe it’s the witches turning the milk sour

We nip to the other side and get yellow top fresh milk in big plastic bottles that last 2 weeks after opening, (EU standards for bacteria control), but only come out of the fridge to pour and then go straight back. .
There is a good Litsas supermarket just the other side of Ay Nick crossing which is stocked with Waitrose food for those who pine for food from home. (Squaddies on the camp?) Plenty of local milk too.

We've lived here 12+ years and this is the first time we've had 3 off cartons at once. An occasional one in the height of summer but this indicates a dodgy batch. We don't go South often and have never felt the need to purchase milk as normally it's perfectly fine here.
