Good luck with getting a metal man to turn out for small jobs, big jobs OK but they just don’t seem to want to know
about small jobs with little profit.
That’s my experience.

Shame I'm not out there. I have a welder at my house in Catalkoy.
If it could wait till October....?

Thanks for the replies and ElectricianPete I agree with Mr Chinnery that there is little chance of a local metal worker turning out for a small job, thats why I put it on here hoping someone might want to swap twenty mins work for beer tokens. The small arch over our front gate was fetched down by the combined weight of jasmine/bougainvillea in a storm last year and as swmbo returns soon I thought it would be a nice surprise. I believe there is/was a tool hire co in Alsanjak somewhere? I might have to have a go myself although its a good thirty years since I wielded a welder.
CatalkoyChris, which October?

I wouldn't give up hope until you've tried ringing Ökten at Arman Metal, down the 'old Merit Road' in Alsancak - he's sent his guys out to fix quite a few piffling little jobs for me...
Tel. 0542 855 0928
If he's really busy - which he often is - you might need to remind him a time or two...

This might be helpful if you know Alsancak area.Pop into Citrus Tree Hotel and ask Kenan for Eddies phone number,he is a welder and lives local. Tell him Clive sent you.

Keith,
A time or two is an understatement in my case it was about six times I went round. Even his work force were surprised no one had turn up.
On one occasion he telephoned to make an appointment, guess what - correct he never turned up.
I probably made the mistake in the first instance of taking photos of various repairs instead of just saying I wanted some metal work doing.
