There was a chap at Tektan in Girne who specialised in sewing machines. Might be worth a phone call. Failing that i think its a walk across the border at Ledra St.

Does it have to be a brother machine? There is a brother shop in the south but in the North there is a singer sewing machine shop that sells Janome and Singer but he may have a second hand brother as he takes machines part exchange.

Can you tell me where this shop is? e.g. Is it in Famagusta?

Singer is now Chinese owned and the machines are nothing like the Singers of yesteryear, sadly.
I have a brother now and you need a degree to thread the thing!
It won't last fifty years like my now defunct Singer that I had given to me as a teenager. Progress I suppose.

The Singer shop is in Lefkosa. If you phone Ozmen on 05428551633 he will explain where he is and if he has any brother machines. His English is perfect.

Groucho I was told this by a former Singer employee. If they are not Chinese owned presumably he meant they are now made in China.

Perhaps my former Singer employee friend was referring to this. Anyway I still maintain my new Brother is not a patch on my old Singer.

They used manufacture in Scotland.... it didn't make them Scottish. No doubt production in China is for the Far East market, which is of course massive given how much of the world's clothing emanates from there.

To complicate matters still further...
Singer have had manufacturing facilities in multiple Countries for many years, and machines may be made up from parts manufactured in more than one Country, see
here - as is the case with cars.
