We have a small flat roof area which houses our solar panels and immersion water tanks. We have supposedly had this repaired three times in the last five years but it still leaks in heavy rain. The obvious answer is fibre glass - does anyone know of a reliable builder out here who is able to fibre glass our flat roof? It seems we are just throwing money down the drain with the local repair methods

IS IT A CONCRETE ROOF??
If so you can have a go yourself. I have done ours. Buy something called
'LIKIT MEMBRAN'.
Painted it onto a dustfree surface. We have an old house and the concrete showed various hairline cracks and I painted every one that looked suspicious. Repeated it the following year and now it's fine.

Where did you get the "Likit Membran" please

From our local builders merchant - sorry, I'm in Dipkarpaz. I'm sure you can buy it anywhere, but if you really have a problem, our friends from Çatalköy are coming to see us on Saturday, I could send a tub with them. I don't remember the price, but it's not outrageous.
My husband also reminded me that it's best to give it two coats. We did thisa few years ago and we still haven't had to do all the expensive things various builders suggested.

Thanks very much for that, as you say, there seem to be some very expensive suggestions from "the trade" but I'm sure my minor problem can be solved with the right sealant

Two years ago our flat roof started to leak and we asked Coban for help he suggested a Weber material and to date we have had no problems. Admittedly we did get an experienced tiler to spread it as it was very expensive but now is a lot cheaper. Due to the success we did my father's ourselves after being told the patio had to be ripped up and re-laid by every builder that came out. Due to the fact this was done less than two years I asked the same tiler to check out the tiles and found this was not the problem but the attached derelict building which we sealed and now no more leaks.
Therfore highly recommend the weber product and Coban on catalkoy - girne road.

hello i have had a leaking flat roof x 3 for years now, i used a few different builders over the years but could not sort it out and the others wanted so much it would have been cheaper to rip the roof off and start from scratch.
so i decided to have a go my self, there is a lot of info on the net.
first look for the problem? is there screw holes for brackets(air con, sat dish, water tank supports)? or cracks? is the rain water gathering in one spot(low points)? does the water have an exit point etc etc..

in the end i used jotun roof guard it is not cheap but one of the best on the market, which is a paint on or roll on liquid sealant. it has to applied to a clean surface but once done it is super, it is very easy to apply but it is the work of cleaning and prep before aplication that takes the time. builders before they applied a cheap version of sealant straight on to dirt,dust, bird poo, stones etc. this is no good it has got to be clean and you will have no problem. if you are having a builder do it be on there case all the time dont let them slack or give you crap, agree that payment will be given if the job is done correct and no leakage. is good luck
