Can anyone instruct me on how to remove a MCB from my circuit board?

I have unscrewed top and bottom and lifted the lip on top but can't get it off?

May also need a Sparky if it continues to trip.

The first and most important thing is to discover why it "continues to trip" - what does that particular MCB serve? I may be wrong, but IMO and from experience, the fault is more likely to be in some appliance and/or wiring problem/failure than the MCB itself - by all means, replace the MCB - but that may not cure the "continual tripping"....

Try immersion heater.

It serves the wall sockets in 3 bedrooms. I have checked all appliances and they are OK. I've visually checked all the sockets and found no visual faults. It must be a fault in the wiring and I guess I would need a Sparky to check this.

As a matter of interest shouldn't the MCB reset itself then trip. Mine will not reset itself?

Unless you have a friend who knows about electrics I really would not tamper too much.....I am very wary of electrics... having a number of electricians in my family...I know the possible consequences.... it may be something quite simple, but unless you know what you doing.... don't.

GET AN EXPERT TO CHECK OUT YOUR PROBLEM

the mcb is a miniature circuit breaker which will trip on excessive over load
the rcd residual current device which will trip on fault condition , this is the one with the test button.
if you think you have a faulty mcb an easy test would be to swap the circuit wires to a mcb of equivalent value. both these are mounted on a DIN rail, the bus bar that links them all together would need dropping out, the wires removing and the mcb removed by pulling down the plastic clip that frees it from the Din rail. its a simple job, but if you are not confident its best left to someone who is. Check out a new one first and you will see how it works. neither the mcb or the rcd will reset automatically.

If you suspect a faulty MCB then you should tun power off at the meter, then remove the busbar which is the common connection at the bottom.
There is then visible at the lower rear of the MCB, alittle clip which you can insert a small screwdriver into and ease it downwards.
The MCB should then release off the mounting rail from the bottom.
After replacing, you must make sure all the connections at the bottoms of the MCB's are open wide, as it is very easy to get the busbar behind the connections instead of in the connections. Then replace the busbar and mke sure all connections are tight.
If the fault persists then you must have a wiring fault if all appliances are OK.

Get a proper electrician !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT IS PROBERBLY A BROKEN WIRE SOME WHERE.IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF SOME HOUSES THEY LAID WIRES WITHIN STEEL CONDUIT AND AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME THE DAMP ALLOWS THE WIRE TO BREAK UP.THIS WILL CAUSE THE BREAKER TO KEEP KICKING IN.

Could also be a faulty MCB, not uncommon as cheap and mass produced these days.

It was two faulty MCBs. Replaced them (cost 24TL) and all working now. Thanks for all the advice and information.
