In Alsancak they collect the garden waste, sorry, I don't know about Karsiyaka...

They also collect from karsiyaka too but if you want it taken away quicker than them doing the rounds you have to inform Lapta municipality. Obviously they do charge which for some reason tends to upset a few people, so many seem to try and hide their cuttings often in places where its very difficult for the municipality to clear and collect them.

I personally rather pay for this service than pay for another jumped and made up charge which occasionally the government think of but after speaking to my customers this charge does seem to be a bug bearer and I am often asked to scatter the trimmings, remove them in my van (? eat them) or even hide them behind a stone or down a ravine.

I just wish more villages had a communal place to take rubbish even if it was on the outskirts as I am sure people would use them.
Catalkoy - collect from outside people's houses
Dogankoy - collect from outside people's house
Alagadi - have to arrange oneself
Edremit - have to arrange with Girne (hard to start but ok after a few times)
Yesiltepe and alsancak have to arrange with alsancak
lapta and karsiyaka - collect monthly

To add to your list
Ozankoy - dump by the side of the road preferably next to where someone has already dumped rubbish & they come round mostly weekly & take it away
GIrne Town - rubbish cleared from roads several times a week

Lapta in their wisdom now charge to have a f**t by any non cypriots .
From experience the locals dump their garden rubbish onto the sign that says no dumping rubbish and is collected without charge even though it is obvious where it is from but if I/we dare put out any garden rubbish outside our wall we get a bill and a warning letter to pay for and order a skip that you only have for two days.
Nepotism !!!!!!!!

you cannot dump garden rubbish without being charged, skips can be hired at roughly a hundred lira and you have it 3 days unless you get it dropped off on a thursday or friday then you have it until monday at the same cost. (much cheaper than anywhere I've ever known) ideal if you have loads of waste or share the cost with a neighbour. dumping garden waste or any waste carries a fine if caught or they house nearest WILL be billed (had this happen many times by other people dumping stuff that didn't belong to us, as we couldn't prove either way we were issued the fine)!

but please for the love of god, DO NOT dump plastic bags. theres enough plastic strewn on this island as it is and its damaging to wildlife and takes ages to decompose. so if dumping cuttings etc, do it in piles with no bags (sorry this is for anyone who reads not aimed at anyone in specific) also be advised if you leave cuttings or grass and it accidentally catches fire then you will be culpable, best bet is get belediyesi to pick it up or make them aware its there so they can make provisions. they will add the cost to your water bill depending on which belediyesi you come under.

sorry sylvia didn't want that to sound like i meant you, as i didn't so apologies if i have offended you. it was more for anyone reading that may have dumped bags or be tempted to. i know some belediyesi may pick up piles not bagged without charge with the grabber when they do drive arounds as long as its small amounts but if its regular or larger amounts they usually bill or fine, not sure about "bagged" garden rubbish.

if in black bags you can place them in your dustbin or beside it but no more than 4, I do this with leaves at one of the houses I look after.
you mentioned you were charged 60tl and asked whether there would be no charge therefore I assume like others you do have a problem with the municipality actually trying to charge for what I call a good helpful service.
others mentioned locals don't pay but maybe they are only receiving 2020tl a month to run their house, but my customers have but it very rarely is more than 100tl a year unless the garden cuttings are very large and the municipality has been asked to clear it.

Years ago gardens were only cut in spring and autumn which is why the trucks are more active then and its generally when you are charged.
