I attended the Enfield Festival and signed the petition for direct flights to TRNC. My cousin did not agree and this is what he has said which I do not agree with :

it is total waste of time. Britain can do nothing about that. Flights are controled by Chicago convention, and unless GCs agree nothing can be done. They have a veto.

I mentioned this before. We used to just land and not get out of the plane and continue to Ercan. The Turks this year stopped that too. They make you get out of the plane and get back in again. Sometime 2 hours later sometimes 6 hours later. Surely They can arrange so there are no passengers to get off or get on at Istanbul and not land at all on some flights. Who would know the difference. My brother was on one such flight where the captain decided as there were no passengers on or off, not to land and go on to Ercan. It just does not happen and it can. Chicago Autorities would be none the wiser.

This is what we need the petion for. Chicago Convention is like an elephenad and we are an ant trying to control it.

Where can you find the petition to sign please, would be a good idea if some one put it on here under heading direct flight petition.

The correct terminology should be ‘Non Stop Flights’.

Many a time on good ole CTA came non stop on Thursday Nights .

Did the Thursday night flight once. No passengers to change and presumably no mail to drop off in Turkey. Terrific!!
