Residency Renewal for Over 60's

Renewed my Residency this week at Lefkosa Immigration.
Being over 60 there was no need to do the police station procedure after obtaining your form from the local muhtar to confirm your address in your village/town.
The British Residents Society website stated that you only need to take three documents to immigration: Passport, Pink or Blue Registration Booklet and signed Muhtar's Form. In actual fact immigration also asked for a photocopy of the passport and also a recent bank statement. Although I did take a bank statement with me I argued that the BRS did not state this on their website and showed them a copy of the BRS webpage. After much discussion with colleagues they wavered the bank statement requirement. Next time, though, I will produce a bank statement just to save the hassle!
Over 60's still have the option of not renewing residency but there are disadvantages in not doing so. Full info on the BRS website:

Regarding permanent residency; this is explained on the website as well.
In short, this is what you will need to take to Immigration:
Passport plus a photocopy; Your Pink or Blue Registration Booklet; Muhtar's Signed Form (two signatures on form); Current Bank Statement; Stamps to total 8.5 TL; Registration Fee (216.5 TL for one year's residency or 433 TL if your decide you want to take the two year option.
That's about it. I went about 11.15 on Wednesday morning and got served immediately as there were no queues. Things are improving !
