He stated today that if you own a property here and stay for 30 days or more you need a t.r.n.c driving licence ?
What !!!!! .
Confused . Com .
Just use your UK license surely. ??
Any comments or clarification would be nice .

I think that you need to ask him where the information is from, and then check it yourself to make sure.
It does seem contrary to what I've been told, but times change, and all that...

I was told the same (30 days) by a TRNC police officer many years ago. Most Brits will tell you it's 90 days. Not sure what the truth is.

Until I read T.H message I thought I was quite knowledgeable on the subject but now I'm not at all sure. If he is correct it looks like a complete minefield these days.

My insurance company told me after 30 days insurance not valid unless you have a TRNC driving licence. If you go South they want your UK licence

So if you are a holidaymaker but also own a property here (which you use to holiday in!), which applies, 30 days or 90 days?

As I read it and I could be wrong
If you stay over 30days you need a licence if you stay over 90 days in a rolling year you need one
I've found 83 days in the current rolling year so i haven't breached the 90 days but its close
Where do you get licence application forms from and are they available in English

It is relatively simple (although a pain in the ass) to get the trnc license, so just get it and keep yourself straight. If you are in an accident with a Cypriot and it is their fault, you are leaving yourself wide open to catch the blame and the cost for the lot. Don't give them the chance to shift the responsibility on to you.

The forms are available at the tax office in Girne and they are available in English.
