Gas hob connection

How do I connect a gas canister to my gas cooker hob? I cannot see any tubes anywhere in which I can connect it to a canister.

Am I being thick or do I need to get someone who knows what they are doing to sort it out?

Far too many people are killed by improperly installed gas appliances...
