Did you know that the current commander of the
Türk Yıldızları display team is a woman ... and why not you say ... yeah, why not ... still though, it seems so cool to have a woman at the helm of the
Stars.
Her name is Esra Özatay, and in this photo, taken earlier today, she and her team can be seen accepting a memorial plaque from the TRNC Interior Minister, Ayşegül Baybars.

From a country where women are not usually accepted in the highest esteem, that's flippin great. And before anyone comes back and gives me a large screed of women MP's etc., etc, I'm speaking as the country as a whole.

Totally agree Sophie - I was going to write more or less the same, but was concerned others might think I was taking the thread too much off-topic.
