Land Rover dealer Lefkosia? Transmission repair

Our planned jaunt to south Nicosia is now on hold because we have transmission problems on our 2003 Land Rover Freelander. Does anyone know a phone number and address for the Land Rover dealer in Lefkosia? Or of anyone in Kyrenia who handles transmissions? The latter is, I think, a bit of a hopeless cause as Ziggy doesn't know of anyone, but if we can get hold of contact info for the Land Rover dealer in Nicosia, it would be appreciated. And if you want to know what the problem is - the reverse gear is stuffed. OUCH!

The dealer is Borusan and they are on the industrial estate just after the Ataturk Stadium on the main Lefkosa to Gazi Magusa dual carriageway. You can see them from the road. Best way to get to them is to go through the traffic lights at Ataturk stadium and turn off before the next set of lights following the utility road that runs parallel to the dual carriageway until you find them. Here is a link to more info:

If you search internet for Borusan Lefkosa it will bring up a map too.

Thanks to both for your replies. Keith - we found today that there was little transmission oil in the gearbox, yet when we bought the Land Rover we were advised that the transmission had been replaced and was still under warranty. As we've had The Beast for some months now - and going back through the papers we received from the seller we can find no documentation - we aren't sure whether not enough transmission oil was put in when the gearbox was replaced. It looks like we're not going to find out as we can find any record of the replacement and warranty. We do have forward gears but no reverse! It's not the best news, I'm afraid, so we're just wondering what sort of costs we'll be facing. If they're too high, we'll sell the Land Rover for spare parts and buy another car. But we'll make any decision once we get the car to Lefkosia and find out the cost of repairs.

Hi Mo Bry, have you considered bringing a second hand gearbox from the UK then getting a local mechanic to fit it ton your vehicle?
I had aquick look on e bay and the Freelander box seems to be very reasonable, which I don't think you would be able to say about having it fixed by a main dealer.
Not sure on the exact model or engine type but lots listed on e bay, it would be a simple remove the old one and refit the new one. prices seem to start at £50 and go up to about £400 for the newer type.
You could buy from a reputable dealer who hopefully would be able to offer a warranty.
I have a friend who does the 4 wheel drive thing, who may be able to help, the chances are that a box could be purchased here all be it for more than the UK but without the hassel. Alternatively there is also the dark side, lots of L/R specialists there. I have contact details for a chap called Harry who runs GTK situated close to the Kaymakli area of South cyprus. He too is very helpful and speaks English. Tel no +357 9954498 or +35722341340.

Sorry, Paddywhack, haven't go the cash to dump our Land Rover and buy a Toyota. Anyway, if we do get this mess sorted out, we'll probably sell the Land Rover and get a smaller car, something that's lighter and easier for me to drive as I have fibromyalgia and muscle problems.
