At many shops you can elect to pay credit card in Sterling but I have never seen anybody paying with cash.

Euro only if paying cash.

It's best to always pay in local currency when using a credit card not sterling.

Just for info. ~ You can use Lira at Messios, it's the first small supermarket on the right after you exit Metehan heading towards the Coca Cola Factory. Sterling not accepted though

Steve C - Why? I always pay with credit card in Sterling anywhere in the EU because there is no charge to do so and also no charge for any exchange rate as nothing to exchange! The EU total of purchase is automatically exchanged to the Sterling value at the time of payment and is done at the latest bank rates.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Martin Lewis always says pay in the currency of the country you are in and he knows a thing or two about saving money.waddo wrote:Steve C - Why? Basically your bank on a bad day will give you a better exchange rate than one calculated at the payment point.
Some are wise and some otherwise.....
