Evsu 19 lt bottles

We went to renew our 3 bottles as usual and the old fellow who never moves jumped up and inspected the bottom of the bottles he found a date on them and declared that one was pre 2014 so no good
After explaining that we had always bought them from him as normal he said that they were not clean via the health dept We presume that they are out of date plastic wise.
We then put all the bottles back in the car never to return but his son intervened and exchanged them.
I asked how do we now know they are in date and he said we have to examine the bottom, good luck with that ,

13roman. Thank you for explaining that. My husband took a bottle back today (we have three to return) and the women absolutely refused to take them back and made him pay 32tl for a new bottle. As we have great difficulty lifting the 19lt bottles we have been using the smaller ones but now we are getting through so much water, we thought we'd give it another try (albeit with difficulty) Eventually one of the woman took the 19lt bottle back and then threw it away somewhere behind the shop. Hector, I'm delighted you get someone to deliver yours on the same day for 7tl, some of us are not so lucky!!! We've been paying considerably more than that for much smaller amount from local supermarkets.

If posters live within driving distance of Tatlisu there is a 24/7 self-help water facility opposite the Belidye. Cost is 1.5 TL per 19 litre bottle and parking is available there, so no long distance carries.

There is also the same facility at the run of shops before the Garage at Tatlisu 2tl for fill up and parking.

Is there no self-fill capability for H2O west of Girne with parking close by?

What's the big deal here? The old bottles - 2014 and before - are now past their use by date. If you had bought a tin of beans in 2014 and kept it in your cupboard till it was out of date would you consider taking it back to where you bought it and complaining? I guess 32 TL is just too much to pay every four years to ensure you don't get poisoned by bad plastic and that it is all up to you in the end. I will be happy if any of my bottles are refused and I end up buying new ones - but I will check the date on the new ones before I pay for them of course!!! Four bottles in rotation at a total cost of 128TL of £19.87 (at todays rate) works out a £0.01.37 per day - bargain! What price the hospital treatment???

Waddo the big deal is that we did not buy these bottles pre 2014 we bought these three weeks ago so they were obviously out of date then Evsu are trying to get the consumer to replace their out of date bottles

I do not understand...
Sometimes when I buy a bottle of water, then exchange (a refilled bottle) the bottle is sometimes very new and sometimes very old. The first bottle bought was not new in the first place. So who's responsibility should it be to renew the old bottles? The customer or the shop owner?
If I bought a new bottle and had that same bottle refilled each time, then I would expect when expired, I would need to replace.

I had to replace one about 6 months ago 'cos it was split, and I bought another one last month for an additional cooler, but one that I've just had refused as being 'too old' was supplied by Evsu to the shop sometime last week - and they've still got my nice new ones!
B@xxxxxs!
Too true we'll be checking the dates!

How do you check the date on a bottle that weighs 19 kilos
The date is on the bottom.not that easy to tip them up!

Lay 'em down on their side!
Better still - get the guy at the shop to lay 'em down, and point to the date indicator for you

I would hazard a guess by saying wait until it is empty before upending it if it is already in use. If purchasing from new, get the shop or water provider to check it where you can see the date.

So what does the date look like on the bottom of the bottle? Three of the bottles I have all have different configuration styles, i.e. a ring with numbers in it and an arrow that appears to point to one of the numbers OR two rings with numbers in it with the same arrow. Checking the last style of indicator this bottle (which appears brand new) was either made in 2301 or 2001 or 2031 or any other combination of between 2 and 11 that you can think of. The older bottles are simple they have all got 15 in the inner circle. They do make good things for growing plants in if you fill the bottom third with small pebbles then the next with peat and finally soil, a couple of small holes in the bottom and sink them in the ground and you don't need to water them for weeks! Also handy for use with a garden cane and a plastic bag on the top as a stand to warm motorists that there is a hole in the road. Fill them up with your olives that you pick in a couple of months - perfect for taking to the press and then use the empty, after washing out - for bringing back your oil. Three of em full of sand make a reasonably brolly stand. You can make a super funnel out of one for use in filling your generator - top of bottle is normally just a bit smaller than filler cap on generator!! Any more ideas??? Don't chuck out - recycle!!!

We exchanged 2 LT19 bottles at the shop where we always change them. We got them 3 days ago (drinking lots of water as workmen here). The shop wouldn’t change them as they were out of date! But they supplied them just 3 days ago. We took our money back and the bottles. We won’t be going back to them for sure because 3 days ago they must have known about this problem and knowingly sold us out of date bottles! We won’t be buying EVSU again either because like others we have given them new bottles and sometimes got split or old bottles back. My husband always checks the bottles for splits now and would have checked for dates had he known he should!

Am I missing something here?
When we purchase our first bottle we have to pay an extra charge which we are told is a deposit - ergo the bottle remains the property of the supplier.
Has anyone returned a bottle and requested a return of that deposit? I think that I know the answer to that one!
Evsu is not even nice water, it has a tang and there are far better suppliers, fortunately here my village shop can top up the bottles from their own tank at 3TL for 19 ltr because I am no longer able to cope with those I now take 2 x 10 ltr bottles although I had to purchase them from Poplife on the south side at a reasonable 2 Euro apiece as a 10ltr bottle I purchased this side did not fit the cooler.
tt.

Oh yes, i love holiday makers who did not understand me, take the bottle to the shop and exchange, you arrive to find 3 or 4 bottles and when you take back to buy one new one its free and they give me money too. admittedly this is local shops not the supermarkets

Although the Consumers Association state no you don’t have to pay ‘it’s the water companies responsibility’, all well and good, but what happens when the supermarket refuses to exchange the bottles unless there is payment, Stalemate and a very thirsty consumer, who either pays up or walks away.

Out of curiosity - is it only Evsu? The CT article names only Evsu, and has anyone who has posted but uses another brand had any problems?
I have mine delivered, and the brand is Damla Su - we're not there for another 5 weeks yet, so I wonder if this is going to be yet another expense in addition to a TRNC driving licence, a metric Kocan - and what else?
Hey; no matter - it's Cyprus!

Has anyone tried to take these out of date bottles back to Evsu directly? They have a depot in Girne near the Wednesday market place.
If you have paid a deposit on them then surely Evsu are obliged to exchange these for you if their rules or the law has changed???
Evsu deliver to most properties (providing you are not in the back and beyond) if you want them to.

Had a slight disagreement this morning in a store I am not allowed to name on the Forum. I went to exchange an empty (won't mention the company) bottle which I had bought and paid 32tl for last Thursday. This morning it was refused "because it is out of date" For heavens sake they sold it to me. I was told I had to phone the company in question and they would give me a refund. Can't be bothered, but at least I know yet another store not to visit again.

After reading about out of date bottles, I checked mine and at least two if not three seemed out of date. I was not really sure what I was looking at. I decided to look on the EVSU FB page and messaged them. A very nice woman helped me via FB messenger, she contacted the Iskele office, which is responsible for Dipkarpaz.
They then called me and I explained that I just wanted to know if my bottles were old or not and how I could get new ones and did I have to pay again. Not only did she say that I could have two new free bottles with water, but also only paid for the water with the third new one. And he delivered to my home!
Perfect customer service - Best I have experienced here!

What’s the latest with these out of date bottles now in the Lapta, Alsancak area.
Are the shops issuing new bottles, the old ones having worked there way out of the system.
Are shops still charging 32TL and still issuing old bottles so you have to pay 32TL Each time you exchange.
Has anybody worked out how to tell
the date on the bottom of the bottles as most of mine seem to have two circles with arrows going in all different directions,I try as I might but I can’t figure out the date. ( I want to be able to figure out the date when at the shop at exchange time so as not to be fobbed off with another old bottle).
There must be loads of people exchanging these bottles but not much information available.

Holiday makers told me yesterday that the shop they went to said "if the arrow point at over 14, then they are too old" ,I can't confirm it personally though. Seems to have only been EVSU though doesn't it. What's happened with other companies.?
