From Colin Smith:
During the night of 5/6 August, while we were out of Nicosia, thieves abseiled onto our apartment's patio from the flat roof of the building, kicked one of our cats hard enough to make her eyes bleed and made off with about 20 pieces of gold and silver jewellery. Among them was a gold ruby eyed Cropp & Farr 1960's snake bracelet pictured below. I found this photograph of one on Ebay the next day. I'm not saying that it is definitely the one that belonged to Sylvia's mother but it easily could be. Other items include one gold Avia lady's watch of the same vintage; an Iranian gold bracelet made up of three rings soldered together; one 18ct gold chain bracelet; one pair of Victorian gold cufflinks in a small leather case; one silver engraved Vietnamese choker with a small security chain fitted; one filigree silver fish slice; one Jewish silver mezuzah with black and red stones which could be worn on a chain; two silver Cambodian belts; one heavy Afghan necklace made up of silver beads holding a chunky silver oblong pendant; an Afghan necklace with a shield shaped pendant that can also be used as a brooch and one Bedouin necklace of Arabic scripted Ottoman silver coins separated by amber beads bought in East Jerusalem in September 1970 which, like most of the other stuff, is of great sentimental value. Should anyone spot anything like this on sale anywhere please be in touch.
ANYBODY SEES ANYTHING OR HEARS OF THIS SORT OF JEWELLERY BEING OFFERED PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I WILLLET THEM KNOW. THE STORY IS ALSO ON FB
