Ways to help the economy

The pressure put on the Turkish economy by the USA is just to help a beleaguered buffoon of a president Trump by deflecting the news away from his racist misogynist and other behavior in his home market by creating world news of making america great

So what can you do to help .
I needed fridge washer and cooker as they are not made in the uk anymore I bought Beko just bought so it helps the Turkish economy
Messed up though bought on line from a uk supplier could not get next day delivery in the uk high street

I'm doing my bit by spending money in local stores and restaurants etc and yesterday being made to feel guilty for doing so. The owner of an extremely well know establishment shook my hand when we were about to leave. And said "You're OK, you have pounds" Why would he say that, is he bitter, after all he lives in a huge house, lord knows how many cars and he and his family live very well indeed. He has no idea if I have pounds, rupees, gold under the mattress etc. For years we have always considered him to be a reasonable, pleasant person, but if this business goes on for a long time, are some locals going to change do you think? I sincerely hope not. We're pensioners and certainly don't throw our money around, like some holiday makers are doing and its not nice to watch.

My neighbour owns one of these fair sized general food stores.

Obviously us Ex Pats are doing the Country a massive favour spending all of our money here and they really should be grateful. Of course not mentioning that most choose to live here in the first place because it is cheaper than the UK. Maybe sometimes we should stop and think just how much a pint of beer costs at home or a gallon of fuel.

Not to mention the lack of concern for personal safety , giving only a second thought to locking the car etc , 14% interest rate and a miserly 10% tax ,Yes the foreigners should be given special treatment despite not being born here, Oh hang on?, DeJa vu kicking in

Yes I'm Odd , daily I speak to Holiday makers from the UK , and the repeat clients(when learning that we are based here ) say how lucky that I am to live here , to which I concur , I've found home

So yes, I spend all my money here and expect nothing from the KKTC Government - which by the way is exactly what I get from the UK Government - yet I still support them and the local economy, being thankful that they let me stay here.

, rest assured , I've always known that Keith was Odd too , but alas I was born in 1964 , Have you any photos to share ? from the early days , have heard stories about the Pork run etc

Photo's are a sore point I am sorry to say. In mid 2004 Google did a massive update to my system - I now have photos from 2004 onwards only! Everything else that I had painstakingly converted from original wet film copies and digital photo's were lost! The only things that survived were from 2004 onwards as I had been backing everything up at the time and stupidly started at the latest instead of the earliest! So all my travels and photo history, including two marriages and children's photos were lost. Google say it was my fault as I should have backed it all up before they did the update - would have done that if they had told me they were going to do an update but apparently I should have known! Hey ho, 14 years new memories had to be made from then on. My kids still find the odd things but continuity has been lost all over - sad but a good lesson well learnt.

Hey, no problems. Lots of people "live" here but it is not "home" to them, no matter how long they have been here. Always found that strange but then I guess until I made it here forever my roots were very loose - lol.
