Does anyone know if there are any places that take glass bottles for recycling? We went to Sah,but all their recycling bins say “no glass” Thanks

We did the same as you kedikat2903 (because we take everything else) and spoke to a really nice bloke who was working there and he said and I quote "these people have no knowledge about recycling and the benefits. Only the South recycle glass."
Whilst on subject of plastic, the business of no straws has died a death it seems. Lately I have visited venues that started to bring drinks and iced coffee etc with a straw beside the drink and you could accept or refuse, now the straws are stuck in the drinks again "because that's what people want"

I think that you are fortunate to have any type of recycling.
Here on the east coast I have never seen any type of facility and that includes Gazi which has a large population.
Here recycling means dropping things on the ground where you stand or throwing it out of the car window, larger items left on any street corner.
Getting back to the topic of glass bottles - my local shopkeeper has now decided that he will no longer order Efes beer in crates, opting instead to obtain the 4 pack shrink wraps. I can understand the attraction for him with easier handling and no storage space needed for empty crates also he has sufficient stacks of empty crates to display his fruit & veg, prop up shelving for other goods and paraphernalia. Do the Efes brewers no longer care whether they have bottles returned, Why not? Firms of such size should have a responsible concern and regard for the environment.
Consider this - I drink 3/4 bottles of Efes each day, returning a crate of 24 empties once each week, that is around 100 bottles per month or 1200 per year, not to mention additional bottles I purchase for guests, just from me alone, the total wastage in TRNC alone is incalculable and it is hurting me (quite apart from losing the free bottle I used to get for return of each crate (((((- ) to have to throw them into the bin. Trouble is my concern does not stretch as far as giving up my daily tipple.

You could always make serious recommendations to Efes in Turkey and see what the Head Office and main brewers come back with.

I wish that I could share your optomision on that action Sophie. Whilst I am sure that they will be still supplying crates the dye is cast as more retailers convert to 4 pack ordering, it will only be Bars who continue to take the crates.

ps - hope you managed to get your flight booked.

we buy our Efes from the off licence opposite Tempo at Catalkoy, you buy a crate then return it with all the empties in it and get another full one, just a small charge for your first crate, considerably cheaper than supermarkets too.

Yes we went to the same shop yesterday, returned our Efes Malt empties in the crate.
Another crate of 20 was 72tl, it was the same price last week as well but they also do Efes Pilsner & Baranta Malt (no sure of spelling) as well
