Dear members, all being well I will be in TRNC on Sunday. I need to pay our electricity bill and wondering if anyone knows whether the electricity board in Girne will be open on Monday 27th August ?

I would think so as offices are open on Monday. You can pay your bill at the bank and they will be open.

In case you go at a time when the office is closed, there is also a machine outside that you can use to pay your bill - TL notes only, no change given, any extra goes on to your account.

The machine outside has not worked since Monday. Tried again yesterday . . Still out of order

There was one at the substation near Barış Park (Wednesday Market area) does anyone know if it is still there?

If you live anywhere near Alsancak, you can pay your bill in the exchange shop, in the parade of shops where the DVD shop is.

There are THREE MACHINES in the building near Baris Park. Never had more than two people in front of me. Procedure take 3 mins maximum, there is a toggle icon which changes the screen to English. You MUST have your account number with you, Only takes TL notes and does not give change. Any surplus goes towards your next month bill. The system does work, We use it all the time and Kibtek receive the money immediately, no waiting for Banks to get round to paying your money over to them. If you ever find yourself cut off for no obvious reason other than Kibtek haven't received your money then if you pay this way, you will automatically be reconnected within a few minutes, if not immediately.

Yes ... not a problem as you only need 1 machine ... the other 2 are not working .

They were last week, perhaps not repaired them over Bayram?

In a small white one storey building just behind where the transformers are, round the corner from the roundabout.

Why not think ahead.
Go to the electric office pay enough to see you over the next x amount of months, problem solved.
I only go twice a year and I am still in credit.

I wish I was in the financial position to only have to go and pay twice a year. Once a month suits us just fine.

I pay mine at the butcher in Karsiyaka Square. Where else in the world would you go to the butcher to pay your electricity bill?

You may not be in credit for long after all the price hikes.
